Episode 11 recap: Pei Xing Jian was attacked late at night, and he continued his journey with Liuli
Along the way, Pei Xing Jian intentionally suggested that Mu San Lang should follow Hai Chongyu in the future Liuli and Pei Xing Jian also deliberately showed affection in front of Hai Chongyu, knowing well what he feared the most at the moment
Wang Jun Meng is now very worried that keeping Mu San Lang by his side would be like having a spy, which would undoubtedly lead to problems. Seeing that Pei Xing Jian and Liuli were about to leave, if he didn't reject them by now, it would be even harder to do so later.
At night, Hai Chongyu sought out Pei Xing Jian and coincidentally learned that Mu San Lang had to return due to a mistake and, moreover, had to return to Princess Dachang. Therefore, Hai Chongyu couldn't refuse. In fact, Liuli and Pei Xing Jian wanted to use this opportunity to send Mu San Lang away, and it happened that Hai Chongyu didn't want this potential threat by his side, so he had to play along.
After everyone went to sleep, a group of black-clad individuals had long been lurking on the rooftop. Taking advantage of everyone's rest, they first released some sleep-inducing incense into the room. However, Pei Xing Jian was already prepared and easily defeated them in just a few moves. Liuli also came out to help.
Unexpectedly, another group of people arrived. Pei Xing Jian instructed Liuli to shout that there were assassins, and soon the soldiers rushed over. Just when someone was about to harm Liuli, Hai Chongyu appeared just in time and prevented the sword from injuring her. The leader of the black-clad individuals originally planned to escape, but Wang Jun Meng killed him directly. Pei Xing Jian initially wanted to leave someone alive for interrogation, but due to the turn of events, the other black-clad individuals started committing suicide, leaving no room for investigation into who was behind it all.
Liuli intentionally acted very angry and had a big argument with Hai Chongyu, saying that she could have rested well, but they disrupted everything, and now she didn't even have a room. In the end, Hai Chongyu had to give up his own room for them.
However, despite all this, Hai Chongyu was still very unwilling. He became extremely angry in his room, and Wang Jun Meng was there trying to console him.
Tonight really frightened Pei Xing Jian, and Wang Jun Meng honestly admitted that he did know about tonight's assassins, but he only knew that they were sent by the imperial city. He didn't have much information about the other details or why they chose to strike here. Hai Chongyu suspected that these people wanted to frame him and take advantage of the situation.
Hai Chongyu also guessed that it didn't really matter who killed Pei Xing Jian. What mattered was that if Pei Xing Jian were truly dead, the situation would be dire. Pei Xing Jian and Liuli were also discussing the incident with the black-clad individuals tonight. Pei Xing Jian felt a shiver down his spine when he thought about it, so he planned to travel lightly tomorrow and try to reach Xizhou as soon as possible.
In the capital city, Princess Dachang was initially happy when she heard that Liuli had died. However, she received the news of the failed assassination attempt on Pei Xing Jian and Liuli, which meant that Liuli was still alive. Princess Dachang's happiness lasted for less than two minutes before she became extremely angry.
Finally, under escort, Pei Xing Jian and Liuli arrived in Xizhou. Hai Chongyu and his father hypocritically rushed forward with smiles on their faces, pretending that they had set up a feast to welcome them. However, they left Liuli behind in the same spot. Hai Chongyu's father actually didn't want Pei Xing Jian to come, but he pretended to be very enthusiastic. Pei Xing Jian also knew that their attitude towards him was insincere.
