Episode 1 recap: Wu Geng assisted Xin Wang in waging war against the Xie clan.
In ancient times, the primordial Xie clan resided in the desolate realm of Xuanhuang, possessing powerful spiritual energy. Among them, Hei Long was a spirit dragon born with chaos, known for his violent nature and immense strength. The leader of the Xie clan, Gen Gu, feared Hei Long's power and sought to eliminate him. Hei Long and Gen Gu battled for a hundred days, ultimately resulting in Gen Gu's death, along with the entire primordial Xie clan.
During this great war, Hei Long's lover, Bai Long, perished, which filled Hei Long with grief and rage. In order to rule the Three Realms, Hei Long declared himself the Xie King and sealed the realm of Xuanhuang as the Xie Domain, creating a new Xie clan. For the next one hundred thousand years, the demon clan was sealed underground by Hei Long, plunged into eternal darkness, enduring the pain of petrification for generations. Additionally, dissatisfied members of the Xie clan broke away from the Xie Domain and established the Xie Yin clan, seeking refuge in the human world.
The marine spirit clan was enslaved by the Xie clan, serving as permanent guardians of the Xie Domain's seas. The human clan, on the other hand, was forced by Hei Long to mine bloodstone for the Xie clan, suffering from brutal abuses and atrocities. Under Hei Long's rule, the Three Realms were plunged into suffering and devastation. After one hundred thousand years, the divine messenger Xuan Cha arrived and delivered a divine decree to Xin Wang, instructing him to send ten times the manpower to the Beishan Mine to extract bloodstone.
At the same time, Xin Wang could no longer tolerate the oppression of the Xie clan and was concerned about the welfare of the people. He firmly refused, but to his surprise, the divine messenger ordered Xin Wang to attack the Kingdom of Mo and enslave its people. Xin Wang set fire to the divine decree, refusing to endure any further mistreatment from the Xie clan. Enraged, the divine messenger attempted to punish the Xin clan, but Wu Geng, the prince of the Xin clan, directly intervened and killed the divine beast brought by the divine messenger.
Using this incident as an excuse, the Xie clan launched a massive attack on the Kingdom of Xin, resulting in heavy casualties among the soldiers of Xin. General Mo, dissatisfied with Xin Wang's declaration of war against the Xie clan, attempted to assassinate Xin Wang to appease the Xie clan's anger. Xin Wang tried to persuade General Mo to resist the Xie clan for the sake of the people of Xin, but General Mo remained stubborn and was ultimately killed in front of Xin Wang.
Wu Geng volunteered to fight the enemy, but Xin Wang refused and instead tasked him with receiving and taking care of the displaced civilians. Xin Wang told Wu Geng that although his father had told him that the human race was born to serve the Xie clan, he believed that one's destiny was in their own hands, and he did not want to accept such a predetermined fate, which is why he rebelled against the Xie clan.
The next day, a young girl named Bai Cai and her slave, Ah Gou, came to the city to sell medicinal herbs. However, they were accidentally knocked over by the townspeople who were scrambling for food, causing the medicinal herbs to be trampled and ruined.
The herb shop only offered a low price to purchase the herbs in Bai Cai's hands. Bai Cai noticed the wound on Ah Gou's hand, which had been stepped on, and reluctantly sold the herbs at a low price. Bai Cai treated Ah Gou's wound and then took him to buy food. However, the owner of the food store took advantage of the chaos of war and raised the prices. Bai Cai's silver coins could only buy half a bag of food. Wu Geng and his men arrived to inspect the grain market, and Bai Cai accidentally noticed that the prince bore a striking resemblance to Ah Gou.
Taking advantage of the presence of the prince, Bai Cai deliberately publicly praised the owner of the food store as a generous person, selling a bag of food for only one shell. Unable to deny it in front of Wu Geng, the owner reluctantly sold the food. After buying four bags of food, Bai Cai prepared to leave with Ah Gou. However, the people from the food store intercepted them and demanded the return of the food. A fight broke out between the two sides, which was noticed by patrolling Wu Geng. The food store accused Bai Cai of using fake shells to buy the food, while Bai Cai accused the food store of price gouging. Wu Geng ordered them all to be taken back for investigation. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Ah Gou pushed away the officials and left with Bai Cai. Bai Cai coaxed Ah Gou and took the food back home, while using the opportunity to divert Wu Geng's attention.
Wu Geng had already caught Bai Cai and intended to take her back for questioning, but he received a message from his mother and had to return to the palace promptly. Wu Geng's mother, Xin Yue Hu, told her son that he couldn't defeat the enemy alone. Besides having a clever mind and unwavering courage, he needed a kind heart that loved the world and its people. Only by learning to love the people would they fight alongside him and protect the Kingdom of Xin. Wu Geng didn't understand why his mother was telling him these things, but Xin Yue Hu didn't offer further explanation.
Xin Wang, for the sake of the people and Wu Geng, decided to personally join the battle. Xin Yue Hu, despite her concerns about the hardships that lay ahead, couldn't help but worry about her son, Wu Geng. Wu Geng discovered the truth about the food store owner's price gouging and ordered his execution in public. Meanwhile, the Xie clan launched an attack on the gates of the Kingdom of Xin, and Zhou Fa and Zhou Qiao, under the orders of the Xie clan, infiltrated the Kingdom of Xin. Xin Wang led his troops out of the city to face the enemy, and Wu Geng wanted to follow his father into battle. However, Wu Geng believed that as a prince of the Kingdom of Xin, it was his responsibility to go out and fight. Eventually, Xin Wang agreed to let Wu Geng join the battle outside the city.
Due to the chaos of the war, Bai Cai and Ah Gou unexpectedly got separated.
