Episode 11 recap: Cui Lin and Li Yi were communicating with each other.
Li Yi read the letter that Cui Lin wrote to him. In the letter, Cui Lin shared the details of her daily life with him. Li Yi felt very happy and content, and he followed Cui Lin's advice on how to eat dried fruits. He also wrote a letter back to Cui Lin, expressing his hope that one day they could enjoy the moonlight together while eating dried fruits, as their feelings for each other grew stronger.
Cui Li waited for Cui Lin on the road where she rode her horse. Cui Lin asked him why he was blocking her way. Cui Li accused Cui Lin of secretly corresponding with the Zhenxi Army, and claimed that if it weren't for her, they wouldn't have had to give up Luoyang City to the Zhenxi Army. Saying this, Cui Li ordered his men to capture Cui Lin, but just in time, the young master from the Cui family arrived.
He asked Cui Li what was going on, and Cui Li told him that it was because of Cui Lin that they lost Luoyang City, claiming that she had conspired with the Zhenxi Army. He then ordered his men to kill Cui Lin, but the young master stopped them. Cui Lin spoke up and explained to Cui Li that she had instructed Tao Zi to copy the letter, and the young master was aware of it too.
They wrote that letter as bait to see who would fall into the trap. Only then did Cui Li realize that he had been deceived. He quickly explained to the young master that he did it for his own good. However, the young master refused to listen to his explanation. He knew that Cui Li had been scheming and conspiring with others in the military camp, framing his comrades. According to the rules of the Cui family's army, the young master punished him, and Cui Li's military authority was taken away.
The young master told Cui Lin that Cui Li wouldn't cause any more trouble now, and then asked her where she had gone earlier. Cui Lin said she went to see Li Yi, which made the young master very angry. He told Cui Lin that Li Yi was the commander of the Zhenxi Army, and her frequent visits to him were not good for their reputation.
He told Cui Lin that she had always been important to him, even more important than his own life. Cui Lin believed that she and the young master had grown up together since childhood, and he was also very important to her. Tears welled up in the young master's eyes as he said that if Cui Lin only saw him as a sibling, it would create a distance between them.
Cui Lin mentioned that the doctor had instructed her to rest, so she wouldn't disturb the young master anymore, and she left.
Li Yi and General Xiao Pei discussed giving Luoyang City to the Cui family's army, but General Xiao Pei was reluctant. He believed that Luoyang City was hard-won for them. Li Yi told him that as long as they had control of Dangguan Pass, they would have an impregnable defense and no worries in retreat.
Upon hearing Li Yi's words, General Xiao Pei felt relieved. He thought Li Yi would show mercy towards them, and now it seemed to be the case. One of Cui Li's subordinates told him that the doctor had examined him and advised him to relax and worry less. Cui Li was furious and kept drinking. He now realized that Cui Lin and the others had become suspicious of him.
Since Cui Lin's departure, Li Yi wrote letters to her every day. Cui Lin looked at the trivial matters Li Yi shared in the letters and couldn't help but smile happily. Tao Zi gave the letter Cui Lin wrote to Chang'er, who took it and prepared to leave. Tao Zi asked if he was really going to leave, and Chang'er quickly turned back. Tao Zi handed him the healing medicine she made, thinking that Chang'er would probably have some bumps and bruises in battles. Chang'er thanked Tao Zi with great joy, and Tao Zi smiled and left, thinking he was a fool.
Li Yi and Cui Lin shared their lives through letters every day, both diligently following this unwritten agreement and feeling very happy. Cui Li's subordinates copied the letters exchanged between Li Yi and Cui Lin and gave a copy to Cui Li. After reading it, Cui Li didn't find anything out of the ordinary. His men believed that both Li Yi and Cui Lin were deep thinkers, and there must be hidden meanings in the letters. Cui Li listened to his men's words and ordered them to find out the implied message in the letters.
In Luoyang City, Li Jun and Li Lai looked at the letter in their hands, which stated that Li Yi had taken Dangguan Pass. Li Jun asked his brother to lead troops to besiege Xichangjing, but Li Lai was concerned about any potential risks in besieging Xichangjing. Li Jun had long known that Li Yi had sinister intentions, and he couldn't let him succeed under any circumstances.
Gu Wanniang felt that she was not favored by her parents at home, and she nearly lost her life in Bingzhou. It was only when Li Yi appeared and saved her that she realized Li Yi was her destined person. She wanted to help Li Yi when he attacked Dangguan Pass. She knew that Li Yi was a person of loyalty and righteousness, and by doing so, Li Yi would repay her kindness.
