Episode 12 recap: Li Yi saved Cui Lin in a critical moment of danger.

During the fight, Cui Lin was struck by an arrow and fell to the ground. Fortunately, Li Yi arrived in time and rescued her. The people hiding in the shadows were stunned when they saw Li Yi's arrival. Li Yi brought Cui Lin back and had Tao Zi treat her injuries. Seeing Cui Lin in pain, Li Yi offered his hand for her to bite on.

Cui Gongzi informed Cui Lin that her father, Shuai, suddenly fell ill, and the messenger who delivered the letter collapsed and died. Cui Lin wanted to immediately gather a group of soldiers and rush back to provide assistance, and Cui Gongzi wanted to go with her. However, Cui Lin believed that the situation was critical, and Cui Gongzi's health was not good, so she advised him not to go. Cui Gongzi insisted that his decision was made and asked Cui Lin not to stop him. Seeing this, Cui Lin reluctantly agreed.

Commander Sun Jing told Prince Liang that after receiving the letter, his two sons, Li Jun and Li Lai, agreed to withdraw the troops obediently. However, Li Yi not only refused to retreat but also presented the head of Duke Zhengguo and wrote a letter. The letter stated that the commander could kill or mutilate Prince Liang as he pleased, and Li Yi could declare himself emperor.

Upon hearing these words, Prince Liang immediately knelt down and begged the commander for mercy. Due to his agitated state, Prince Liang fainted. The doctor informed the commander that he might not recover, so the commander ordered his subordinates to carry Prince Liang away. While Cui Lin and Cui Gongzi were rushing to their father's side, they encountered an enemy ambush and quickly went on guard.

Facing the formidable enemy formation, Cui Lin's group was on the verge of defeat. Cui Gongzi was about to be killed, but Cui Lin quickly shot an arrow to protect him. However, in the process, Cui Lin herself was struck by an arrow. Chen Xing was also killed while trying to save Cui Gongzi. It seemed that Cui Lin was about to be killed.

Fortunately, Li Yi arrived just in time, along with the Zhenxi Army. Upon seeing the Zhenxi Army, the attackers quickly retreated. General Xiao Pei saw that Li Yi had brought Cui Lin back and asked how he managed to do so. Li Yi told him not to waste time and to find a doctor immediately.

The doctor examined Cui Lin's wound and knew that the arrow had barbs and couldn't be forcibly pulled out. It needed to be picked out with a knife. The doctor said he was old and afraid that his hand might not be steady. Tao Zi told him not to worry, as she understood medical techniques and could do it herself. The doctor mentioned that this method would be very painful and was concerned that Cui Lin might not be able to endure it. However, Cui Lin insisted that she could.

Consort Xiao leaked the news of Duke Zhengguo's death at the hands of Li Yi to Lady Wei, who became furious and approached Prince Liang, intending to strangle him. When Commander Sun Jing heard the news, he rushed over. The imperial physician informed the commander that Prince Liang's pulse was weak to begin with, and now, due to Lady Wei's actions, he had been deprived of breath for a long time and could not be saved.

The commander ordered his subordinates to burn Prince Liang's body and scatter his ashes, considering it as avenging Duke Zhengguo. Lady Wei persisted and demanded that Prince Liang's head be severed and presented to Li Yi, so he could experience heart-wrenching pain. Upon hearing her words, Prince Liang could no longer contain his anger and slapped Lady Wei across the face.

When Commander Sun Jing's subordinates were about to take Prince Liang's body to be burned, they were switched out by people arranged by Li Yi in advance. Prince Liang was saved by Li Yi, but he was ungrateful and considered Li Yi a traitor, ordering him to leave.

As soon as Li Yi stepped out, he encountered Gu Wanniang, who voluntarily offered to take care of Prince Liang. Li Yi declined initially, but despite his attempts to refuse, he eventually gave in due to Gu Wanniang's persistent requests. When Cui Lin woke up, she saw Li Yi by her bedside and expressed her heartfelt gratitude for saving her. She told Li Yi that if he ever encountered difficulties in the future, she would go through great lengths to help him.

Curious about how Li Yi knew about her predicament, Cui Lin asked him. Li Yi explained that he discovered a group of light cavalry passing by the route taken by the Cui family's army. He knew that Cui Li had discussed borrowing troops from his elder brother a few days ago, so Li Yi figured it out. Cui Lin became anxious and asked about Cui Gongzi's well-being and the situation in Yingzhou.

She also asked about her horse's whereabouts. Li Yi asked if she planned to ride the horse to rush to Yingzhou at that moment. He advised Cui Lin not to be hasty and to take some time to think it through. After waking up in the Zhenxi Army, Cui Gongzi wanted to leave, but his subordinates stopped him, urging him to focus on recovering from his injuries first. Consort Xiao truly hoped that Commander Sun Jing would recall the expeditionary force from Baiyue before Li Yi could reconquer Xichangjing.
