Episode 14 recap: Li Yi staged a wedding with Cui Lin.
The soldiers of Zhenxi Army advised Li Yi not to trust Cui Lin anymore. They believed that Cui Lin had deceived him multiple times since their encounters. Li Yi, feeling heartbroken, said that Cui Lin was unaware of the situation. He mentioned how many of their Zhenxi Army brothers had died, wondering if it was not the doing of the Cui family and Sun Jing.
Cui Lin, feeling that Li Yi no longer trusted her, remained silent. Gu Wanniang, with her eyeliner removed, encountered Li Yi and Cui Lin. Li Yi informed Gu Wan about Sun Jing's plot to overthrow the government and disrupt the order. He hoped Gu Wan could collaborate with them, the Zhenxi Army, to retake West Changjing.
Gu Wan perceived Sun Jing as a cunning and sly person, who tightly controlled the old city in the capital. She feared it would be difficult for them to proceed. Li Yi explained the plan in detail, and Gu Wan agreed to cooperate. He asked Li Yi if he had a plan, and Li Yi mentioned having a rough plan. Gu Wan believed it would be better for fewer people to know about the plan, and he advised Li Yi not to inform him. Li Yi could inform him later about how to coordinate their actions.
The person tracking Gu Wan and Gu Wanxiang noticed something and rushed over, only to find Gu Wanxiang trying on clothes. The tracker awkwardly left, and Gu Wanxiang and Gu Wan exchanged smiles. Sun Jing received news that Prince Liang was about to ascend the throne. He ordered his subordinates to kill those who opposed them and bring the stubborn officials to his palace.
Li Yi learned about this and thought Li Jun and Li Lai were extremely foolish. He had initially believed that Li Jun was acting out of filial piety, but it turned out they were vigorously supporting Prince Liang's ascension in Luoyang City. Sun Jing immediately dispatched people to the capital to capture Prince Liang and had the officials brought to the palace.
Gu Wanxiang hurriedly disguised herself and quickly informed Li Yi. Sun Jing's men had already begun searching for them early in the morning. Li Yi and Cui Lin took refuge in a courtyard, worrying whether Lao Bao and Chang'er would be able to escape.
As the search party was closing in on them, it turned out that the owner of the courtyard was the woman and her daughter they had saved earlier. Aunt Yang suggested they stay there for a few days until they could safely leave. Li Yi was concerned that staying there for too long would burden Aunt Yang.
However, they needed to find a way to leave the city quickly. Cui Lin learned that Yang Auntie's daughter, Yang Qijie, would be getting married in a few days. They planned to have Xu Sanlang, who sold fabric, return and marry Yang Qijie. Cui Lin believed they could seize this opportunity to leave the city. Cui Lin mentioned that she and Yang Qijie had a similar build, and Li Yi could disguise himself as Xu Sanlang. This way, they could smoothly exit the city. Li Yi felt uneasy about the plan as he worried it would burden Aunt Yang and her family. However, Aunt Yang quickly reassured them, feeling grateful for their past help. She believed in reciprocating kindness and was more than willing to assist Li Yi and the others.
Young Master Cui's injuries had healed, and he felt the need to compensate for his previous mistakes. He wrote a letter to Sun Jing, proposing their collaboration to recapture Yuguan. Although Sun Jing didn't know the exact reasons for his actions, he agreed to the proposal. Tao Zi gave a bag of dried fruits to Chang'er, who shared them with Lao Bao and the others. Lao Bao felt fortunate to enjoy such delicious dried fruits thanks to Chang'er's kindness, while Chang'er wondered why it was attributed to him. Tao Zi had always been kind to everyone, but Lao Bao slapped him, thinking he was a fool. Upset, Tao Zi left.
Li Yi informed Cui Lin that once they reclaimed West Changjing, he would return to Laolan Pass. Cui Lin questioned why he wouldn't stay in West Changjing since Prince Tai Sun was ascending the throne. Li Yi explained that he liked Laolan Pass, or else he wouldn't have gone to such lengths to make mistakes and end up there in the first place. Li Yi asked Cui Lin about her plans and whether she would return to Yingzhou. Cui Lin asked if he was afraid she wouldn't leave West Changjing. She mentioned that by then, the world would be peaceful, with no more wars, so naturally, she would return to Yingzhou.
However, there were many places she hadn't been to yet, and she wanted to explore them. Li Yi asked if she would visit Laolan Pass, and Cui Lin assured him that she would definitely go and see the desert and the Laolan River he had mentioned. The descendant of the emperor, Prince Tai Sun, was discovered by Sun Jing, who relentlessly pursued him. Fortunately, he managed to survive.
Consort Xiao learned about this news, and her anxious heart finally calmed down. Young Master Cui, acting together with Cui Lin and Sun Jing, seized Yuguan. As a result, many soldiers from the Zhenxi Army lost their lives, and a rift formed between Cui Lin and Li Yi.
