Episode 18 recap: The Zhenxi Army and the Cui Family Army stormed into Xichangjing.
Li Yi gave Cui Lin a small straw doll and told her that since he couldn't be by her side, she could keep this doll as company. If she's unhappy, she can hit or scold it. Cui Lin held the doll next to Li Yi's face and thought it resembled him. Li Yi told Cui Lin that when peace is restored in the land, he will definitely marry her.
Li Yi escorted Cui Lin and Tao Zi away. They walked side by side on a path in the woods, with mixed emotions. On the other side, Cui Gongzi woke up and asked Ashu about Cui Lin's condition. Ashu told him that Cui Lin had been rescued by the Zhenxi Army and advised Cui Gongzi to rest and meet Cui Lin as soon as possible.
Li Yi brought Cui Lin in front of Cui Yi. Cui Yi looked at Cui Lin and finally felt relieved, thinking it's good that she's back. Cui Yi approached Li Yi and said that he had sent Li Jun and Li Lai back to the palace. Since Li Yi had come today, he should take his father away.
Cui Yi invited Li Yi to the tent to talk. Cui Yi asked Li Yi about the hairpin on his head. Li Yi told him that the hairpin was a gift from Cui Lin. Cui Yi warned him not to rely on the hairpin to feel fearless. He told Li Yi not to think that he wouldn't dare to take his life, pointing his sword at him as he spoke.
Tao Zi asked Cui Lin why she wasn't worried at all. Cui Lin felt that now that they had returned to the Cui Family Army, there was nothing to worry about. Tao Zi clarified that's not what she meant and asked if Cui Lin wasn't worried about Li Yi. Cui Lin said she trusted her father Cui Yi and Li Yi. As she spoke, Cui Lin carried the noodles she cooked and brought them to Cui Yi.
Cui Yi asked why she didn't ask where Li Yi was. Cui Lin believed that her father wouldn't kill Li Yi, so she wasn't worried. The father and daughter discussed for a long time. Cui Yi felt that it would be better to kill Li Yi to relieve his deep hatred. Cui Lin told him that they couldn't kill him because if they did, the people would no longer have good days.
Cui Yi mentioned that she didn't say that before. Cui Lin told him that it was because she hadn't met Li Yi before. Cui Yi told her that he had already killed Li Yi. Cui Lin didn't believe it. She knew her father very well. Indeed, Cui Yi had tied Li Yi with a rope in a box, and when Cui Lin saw it, she quickly felt sorry and pulled Li Yi out.
Cui Lin cooked a bowl of noodles for Li Yi and watched him devour it eagerly. Cui Lin was very happy watching him eat. Li Yi told her that Cui Yi promised to help him retake Xichangjing, but before that, they had to tie him up. If Cui Lin wanted to kill Li Yi, then Cui Yi would immediately cut off his head.
If Cui Lin decided to spare his life, Cui Yi would agree to help him retake Xichangjing. Cui Lin asked Li Yi how he could be so sure that she wouldn't kill him. Li Yi said he knew because she wouldn't deceive herself into getting killed by their Zhenxi Army. Cui Lin said that's not necessarily true, but Li Yi felt that killing him wouldn't be the most satisfying thing.
The most satisfying thing for him would be that they still had a long life ahead of them, and Cui Lin could slowly scold and torture him. Li Yi was about to leave the Cui Family Army, and both he and Cui Lin were reluctant. He gave Cui Lin a doll he made himself and told her that if she missed him, she could look at the doll as if he was accompanying her.
Cui Lin held the doll next to Li Yi's face and compared them. She felt that they looked quite similar. Li Yi told her that if she liked it, he would make more next time. Cui Lin said it would be good to make more so that she wouldn't be lonely. Just as Li Yi was about to leave, he turned around and told Cui Lin that when peace was restored in the land, he would definitely marry her.
He asked Cui Lin to wait for him to come and propose in person. He wanted to marry Cui Lin. Cui Lin looked at him in this way and laughed happily. Cui Gongzi saw this scene not far away, and he spurted blood and asked Ashu to take him away. Li Yi led the combined forces of the Zhenxi Army and the Cui Family Army to the gates of Sun Jing's city. Sun Jing saw that he was about to fall into an imminent siege.
He stood on the city tower, watching as the Zhenxi Army and the Cui Family Army broke through their defenses. But he was still unwilling and struggling in vain. His subordinates advised Sun Jing to leave first and plan a strategy at Mount Zhong. Sun Jing didn't listen and insisted on staying here. Suddenly, Sun Jing spurted blood.
It turned out that before the battle, he had met Consort Xiao. Consort Xiao applied poison to her lips and kissed Sun Jing.
