Episode 2 recap: Li Yi and Cui Lin teamed up to infiltrate General Guo's military camp.

Former Crown Princess Xiao and Grand Commander Sun Jing were playing ball together when one of Sun Jing's subordinates whispered something in his ear. Sun Jing lost interest and didn't make a shot. He ordered his subordinate to bring Prince Liang to meet him.Prince Liang arrived and knelt before Sun Jing, who was furious about the loss of food and the city. He blamed Prince Liang for the failures and questioned him. When Prince Liang saw Crown Princess Consort Xiao, he greeted her with a bow.

Consort Xiao stated that the former Crown Prince was incompetent and she was no longer a crown princess, requesting Prince Liang to refrain from addressing her as such. Liang Jing asked Prince Liang about Li Yi's situation, and Prince Liang informed him that Li Yi had always caused trouble for him since childhood.

Although Li Yi's forces had occupied the state capital, they aimed for more, specifically the Bingzhou region. Cui Lin wanted to negotiate with General Guo directly, but her lord disagreed, not wanting Cui Lin to risk herself. On the other hand, Li Yi shared the same idea as Cui Lin. The lord smiled and decided to negotiate himself while leaving Cui Lin to guard the place.

In General Guo's military camp, Cui Lin and Li Yi finally met. General Guo didn't know how to satisfy both of them, so he proposed a horse racing game. The winner would have the opportunity to negotiate with him. If General Guo won, he could make a request in a few days. Li Yi and Cui Lin agreed to General Guo's proposition.

General Guo inquired about Li Yi's father's injuries, and Li Yi assured him that there were no issues and not to worry. Soon, the tense and thrilling horse racing competition began. General Guo watched the situation and felt that Cui Lin's guards had the advantage in this round. However, Cui Lin believed that anything could happen until the end. Suddenly, a horse went out of control and charged towards Cui Lin, but Li Yi quickly came to her rescue.

In the end, General Guo won the race, and according to the pre-agreed terms, he could make a request to both of them. General Guo's subordinate asked if he had decided on his request for the next day. General Guo believed that Li Yi's act of saving Cui Lin indicated that their friendship outweighed their enmity. Fearing that they might harm him, General Guo wanted to take preemptive action.

He ordered his subordinate to bring some poisoned pastries and offer them to Li Yi and Cui Lin. Li Yi planned to find Cui Lin, but he didn't expect that Cui Lin had already anticipated this situation.

She hid in the shadows and observed, waiting for the right moment to capture Li Yi. She saw the hairpin on Li Yi's head and took it away, telling him that things should be returned to their rightful owners. Li Yi asked her to return his belongings as well, but Cui Lin said she had obtained them through her own skills. If he wanted his things back, he would have to rely on himself. Cui Lin said she was leaving and coincidentally encountered General Guo's subordinate who brought a plate of pastries for her. Cui Lin took the pastries back to her tent and found only a pile of ropes on the ground, realizing something was wrong.

Before she could react, Li Yi used the same method to tie her up and took away Cui Lin's hidden needle weapon. Cui Lin realized that Li Yi's visit to General Guo's military camp was not genuine, and she asked him why he couldn't be straightforward. Li Yi asked her if she could make decisions for the Cui family, and Cui Lin told him that she could.

Before they could discuss further, a fire broke out outside. General Guo's subordinates surrounded the tent, intending to kill Li Yi and Cui Lin. Both of them had already anticipated this situation. Li Yi carried Cui Lin on his shoulder and instructed her to kick the attackers with her feet. Cui Lin and her companion, Ashu, got separated. Ashu's men returned and informed Lord Cui that they couldn't find Cui Lin.

Lord Cui told his men to proceed with the original plan to attack Wangzhou, but Lord Cui didn't listen to him. He believed that if they attacked Wangzhou and missed the opportunity to find Cui Lin, he would deeply regret it. He ordered everyone to search for Cui Lin. Cui Lin used her clothes to make marks, hoping to mislead Li Yi, but he saw through her scheme.

Li Yi saw Cui Lin standing by the water's edge and kicked her into the water. Cui Lin claimed that her leg was cramping and urged him to rescue her quickly. Li Yi knew she was a good swimmer and believed she was tricking him. He prepared to leave but sensed something was amiss, so he quickly jumped into the water to save Cui Lin.
