Episode 5 recap: Li Yi and Cui Lin made an agreement.
The person who wanted to kill Li Yi threatened him by holding a dagger to Cui Lin's neck. They told Li Yi that if he didn't give up his life, they would kill Cui Lin. Cui Lin urged Li Yi to leave and not to believe the words of such a villain. In order to avoid suspicion, Li Yi and Cui Lin had to bathe together on the rooftop.
At Han Li's residence, Li Yi and Cui Lin sneaked in secretly, knocking out a maid in the process. They pretended to be serving the wife of Han Li's household. Taking advantage of the bath ceremony for Han Li's grandson, they abducted the child. Han Li was furious and discussed with his people who would dare to be so bold as to take away his grandson.
Li Yi was relieved that he had made Cui Lin pretend to be a pregnant woman. Otherwise, the sound of a baby crying from their room would have raised suspicions. Li Yi instructed Cui Lin to quickly soothe the child, but Cui Lin claimed not to know how. Han Li thought they had taken his grandson in order to obtain the Tiger Token, so he had his men send a fake Tiger Token to a nearby forest to see if anyone would come to claim it.
Li Yi and Cui Lin were already aware of the fake Tiger Token. After cleaning up the place, Li Yi told Cui Lin to set it on fire. When Han Li saw the fire, he knew that Li Yi had discovered the fake token. Li Yi and Cui Lin climbed onto the rooftop of Han Li's residence, knowing the location of the real Tiger Token.
However, Han Li believed that the southern courtyard where the Tiger Token was placed had numerous traps and was impenetrable without a large number of people. Although Cui Lin and Li Yi knew the location of the Tiger Token, they had no way of obtaining it. Li Yi told Cui Lin that they couldn't force their way in, so they had to use their wits. Cui Lin suggested that they pretend to be from the Zhenxi Army and engage with Han Li.
Li Yi asked why they couldn't pretend to be from the Cui family army instead, as the Zhenxi Army had caused a commotion earlier, and Han Li would surely be wary of them. They made an agreement that whoever obtained the Tiger Token would claim Zhou, and whoever captured or killed Han Li would claim Bingzhou. If someone obtained the token and killed Han Li, they would have both territories. They sealed the deal with a handshake.
Cui Lin's elder brother came to ask him about their plans, but Arin (Cui Lin) told him that if he came in violation of military orders, he shouldn't ask about things he shouldn't know. His brother angrily threw a cup and people nearby quickly tried to console him and asked him not to be angry.
He told him that the young master Cui wouldn't live much longer, and when that happened, the Grand General would have no heir, and the Cui family army would still be under his control. Cui's third brother couldn't wait and wanted to uproot the young master Cui. Li Yi and Cui Lin went to Han Li's residence again and found Han Li. They told him that they were here on the orders of the young master Cui and wanted to pass through Jianzhou. Han Li told them that it was easy to say, but the Commander Sun Jing in the capital had already ordered him to guard the city gates, and if he agreed to their request, Sun Jing would blame him.
Li Yi told him that they were reciprocating his kindness. As long as Han Li agreed to let them pass, they would no longer collect taxes from merchants in Bingzhou and Jianzhou in the future. Han Li mistook Li Yi for the young master Cui, and Cui Lin played along. Han Li immediately changed his attitude and arranged a feast with dancing and music to welcome Li Yi's arrival. In the middle of the feast, Han Li told Li Yi that he had some matters to attend to.
Han Li met with the envoy sent by Sun Jing. The envoy brought tens of thousands of soldiers, claiming to be there to protect Han Li, but in reality, they were there to pressure him. Li Yi sensed something unusual and pretended to be drunk, asking Cui Lin to take him away. Before they could reach the door, Han Li's men captured them.
They were taken to a specially designed house with numerous traps, making it impossible for them to escape. Cui Lin asked for bathing supplies for Li Yi and requested extra thick felt to keep him warm. To prevent their conversation from being overheard, they had to hide in the bathtub to talk. Cui Lin told Li Yi that her childhood name was Ayin.
