Episode 9 recap: Cui Lin kissed Li Yi's cheek.
Tao Zi brought food to Cui Lin, and Cui Lin asked her to bring the deadliest poison. Although Tao Zi didn't understand her intentions, she still did as she was told. Li Yi came out and asked if she wanted to poison herself. Li Yi closed his eyes and checked the numbers. Suddenly, Cui Lin kissed him on the cheek, leaving Li Yi stunned in place, not knowing how to react.
Chang Er informed Li Yi that a secret envoy from Luoyang City wanted to see him. Li Yi thought to himself that he had just mentioned Luoyang City, and now they had arrived. He asked Chang Er to invite the envoy in, and the provincial governor of Luoyang City, Fu Yuan'er, came up behind Li Yi. Li Yi already knew who the visitor was, and he remarked that Fu Gong had quite the courage to come alone.
Fu Yuan'er pointed at Li Yi and asked if he was Pei Xian's youngest son. Li Yi replied that when his father was conquering Yiluo, he was still a baby nursing. Seeing that Fu Yuan'er brought up this matter, Li Yi recounted the time when Fu Yuan'er, in a solitary and audacious act, stormed into the enemy's king's tent and took only the Yiluo king's head, thinking it was just a story to listen to.
Li Yi said that it was only now, upon seeing Fu Yuan'er, that he realized the truth behind the story from back then. Fu Yuan'er modestly admitted that he was old and no longer useful. Upon learning about the situation with the Zhenxi Army and the Cui family's army, Fu Yuan'er asked Li Yi why he didn't vent his anger. Li Yi replied that he currently lacked provisions and the ability to do so.
Fu Yuan'er learned that Li Yi intended to capture Luoyang City this time. He offered a suggestion, believing that with their current strength, attacking Luoyang City would only be helping the Cui family's army. Fu Yuan'er proposed that Li Yi should instead attack the Zhenxi Army, as it would strengthen his forces. Then, he could bypass Luoyang City.
Li Yi considered his suggestion and said he needed to think about it. Fu Yuan'er generously provided him with some provisions. After Fu Yuan'er left, Li Yi thought that he was brave and cunning, executing the plan of sowing discord excellently. However, he wondered why such a talented person remained loyal only to Sun Jing. Duke Zhengguo learned about Fu Yuan'er secretly meeting Li Yi and suspected that both Fu Yuan'er and Li Yi had some schemes. He asked Fu Yuan'er for the commander's seal.
Fu Yuan'er told him that the commander's seal was personally given to him by the Grand Commander Sun Jing and could only be obtained by asking the Grand Commander. Duke Zhengguo believed that Fu Yuan'er was being deceitful with his words. Fu Yuan'er explained that his secret meeting with Li Yi was to persuade the Zhenxi Army to attack the Cui family's army.
Duke Zhengguo asked Fu Yuan'er how he knew that Li Yi would definitely listen to him. Fu Yuan'er showed Duke Zhengguo the letter from Li Yi agreeing to attack the Cui family's army. He also invited Duke Zhengguo to go up to the city tower to see for himself. Sure enough, they saw the Zhenxi Army and the Cui family's army fiercely fighting. However, it was actually a plan set by Li Yi for the Zhenxi Army to fake the fight. Li Yi and Cui Lin pretended to fight together. But Cui Lin accidentally injured Li Yi, and the Zhenxi Army became dissatisfied. They asked Cui Lin why she didn't keep her promise to fake the fight.
Li Yi told them to stop talking and led his soldiers to leave. Duke Zhengguo received a report that the Zhenxi Army had repelled the Cui family's army and had already left with their troops. Upon hearing this, Duke Zhengguo thought they were nothing special and decided to lead his troops to attack the Cui family's army and the Zhenxi Army. Fu Yuan'er stopped him and explained the interests involved. However, Duke Zhengguo believed that he was just afraid of fighting.
Through this battle, Li Yi learned that Cui Lin was not a concubine of the Cui family's young master. He told his trusted friend that the person his friend liked was not someone's concubine. The friend also guessed that Li Yi liked Cui Lin, and Li Yi was caught off guard. He anxiously asked how the friend knew, and the friend said that anyone could see it.
Cui Lin asked Tao Zi to bring the deadliest poison from the Cui family's army. Suddenly, Li Yi appeared and asked Cui Lin if she knew he was coming, which was why she brought out the deadliest poison. Li Yi captured Sun Jing's uncle, who was Duke Zhengguo, and the soldiers of the Zhenxi Army brought Duke Zhengguo and some noble children to threaten Fu Yuan'er to let them enter Luoyang City.
Fu Yuan'er didn't care about Duke Zhengguo's status and firmly refused the demands of the Zhenxi Army. Li Yi asked Chang Er to accompany Tao Zi to find medical books, but Tao Zi didn't want to go with him. Li Yi and Cui Lin started another bet. If Cui Lin won, Li Yi would let her pass through Wangzhou. If Li Yi won, Cui Lin would help him rescue Prince Liang.
The two of them blocked Cui Lin, and from counting one to ten, if Li Yi couldn't resist opening his eyes, he would lose. Li Yi had just counted to four when Cui Lin kissed him on the face.
