Episode 1 recap: Mei Kai Shao travels back to ancient times.
With the initial establishment of the country, the Great Desert Nation has been engaged in continuous warfare. The power struggles among the warlords have led to a depleted national treasury and the military faction controlling internal affairs in the court. The emperor has the intention to change the current situation, but the deep-rooted influence of the military faction, especially led by General Mei Xuan, makes it difficult to bring about change. Mei Xuan, originally named Lin Xuan, is a son-in-law of the Mei family and changed his surname to Mei.
Mei Xuan and the young lady of the Mei family have a daughter named Kai Shao. Since childhood, Kai Shao has been weak and prone to illness. After giving birth to Mei Kai Shao, the young lady of the Mei family passed away due to complications. Mei Xuan married Zhang Shi as a concubine and had a son named Mei Ao. Originally, Kai Shao was already in a frail state since childhood, but now her condition has worsened. A modern girl who unexpectedly died from staying up late has somehow transmigrated into the body of Mei Kai Shao. She accidentally encounters a group of masked individuals and two young men fighting, one of whom is the third prince of the Great Desert Nation, Mu Rong Han Bing. Mei Kai Shao initially wanted to help but finds herself powerless, and instead, she is saved by someone else.
After the masked individuals leave, Mei Kai Shao returns home alone. When it is broad daylight and she arrives at the entrance of the estate, she is intercepted by Mei Ao. Mei Ao accuses Mei Kai Shao, a woman, of staying out all night. Mei Kai Shao shows no fear and confronts Zhang Shi and Mei Ao openly on the street, mocking Mei Ao for being a bastard. Mei Ao, furious, wants to hit Mei Kai Shao. Mei Kai Shao screams and attracts a crowd, lamenting her ill-fated life, being bullied by a bastard. The surrounding people criticize the Mei family for having a bad reputation. Worried about tarnishing their reputation, Zhang Shi quickly asks Mei Ao to apologize.
At this moment, Mu Rong Han Bing and a guard stand on the bridge behind the crowd. The guard actually thinks highly of Mei Kai Shao and finds her very interesting, different from the rumors. However, Mu Rong Han Bing glares at the guard, and the guard tongue-tied, dares not speak further. Mei Kai Shao takes advantage of the situation and returns to her room, contemplating how to return to the modern era. She initially considers using a fruit knife to commit suicide, but fears the regret if she actually dies. Coincidentally, a maid sees her and assumes Mei Kai Shao intends to commit suicide, quickly informing the steward. Mei Ao happens to overhear and believes that Mei Kai Shao's condition must be severe for her to take this path. He subsequently goes to consult a divine doctor, confirming that Mei Kai Shao's time is limited, which brings joy to Mei Ao's heart.
