Episode 22 recap: "Muran Hanbing and his uncle had a falling out.
Muran Hanbing woke up calling Mei Kaishao's name. His recent cultivation practice caused a toxic reaction, and he had been unconscious for several days. Mei Kaishao, however, had still not been found, and the Mei family had already begun preparing for the funeral. Yanru caused a ruckus at the Mei residence, believing that they shouldn't easily give up on finding Mei Kaishao and proceed with the funeral. On the other hand, Zhang Shi was aggressive, stating that the Mei family didn't need Yanru's approval for their actions. At that moment, Muran Hanbing also arrived, asserting that they should see the person before proceeding with the funeral. He believed that holding a grand funeral without confirming the person's fate was suspicious. Mei Ao reproached Muran Hanbing, stating that even though he was a prince, he had no right to interfere in other people's affairs.
Muran Hanbing, however, stood his ground, arguing that their marriage was approved by the Emperor, so he had the right to intervene. Neither Mei Ao nor Mei Xuan could say anything against it. In the pouring rain, Muran Hanbing continued his search for Mei Kaishao, while Yanru stood alone outside the Mei residence, tears streaming down her face. Mei Xuan silently stared at the hairpin in his hand, while Zhang Shi and Mei Ao wore satisfied smiles.
Muran Hanbing found Mei Kaishao's jade pendant at the bottom of a cliff but still couldn't find her. He drowned his sorrows in alcohol day and night to alleviate his inner pain. His uncle came to visit and advised him not to be fixated on the imperial examination, believing that civil officials trying to hinder military officials was like a mantis trying to stop a chariot. However, Muran Hanbing ignored his advice and was scolded by his uncle before leaving.
Mei Ao didn't expect Muran Hanbing to undergo such a drastic change in temperament due to Mei Kaishao. Previously, Muran Hanbing relied on his uncle's Divine Machine Corps, but now they had a falling out, and Mei Xuan believed it was their opportunity. At night, a masked person infiltrated Mei Xuan's study and entered an underground chamber, searching everywhere for something. Suddenly, they heard footsteps and quickly hid in fear."
