Episode 18 recap: Shan Yu saves his past self from ten years ago.
Shan Yu makes a phone call to inquire about the person who is following him. He finds out that the police did go in, and he went in as well, but they didn't catch anyone. Shan Yu immediately realizes that something is wrong and knows that Zheng Zhe must have obtained the candle. Zheng Zhe goes back to ten years ago and calls Shan Yu, implying that he has captured Min Ying. Shan Yu, unaware of the trap, rushes over and sees Zheng Zhe sitting there without any suspicion. Caught off guard, Shan Yu is struck unconscious by Zheng Zhe with a stick. Zheng Zhe drags Shan Yu away, throws him into a water tank, and submerges his head in the water, torturing him. Zheng Zhe accuses Shan Yu of daring to control Bill's fate.
In a hurry, Shan Yu rushes to Zheng Zhe's house and quickly blows out the candle. Instantly, Zheng Zhe returns to the present, but the police catch Zheng Zhe who hadn't left yet. However, Zheng Zhe shows no fear because he believes that everything will change soon, and Shan Yu will no longer emerge from the water tank. Realizing the danger, Shan Yu quickly calls Yin Xun to ask where he was ten years ago. Yin Xun remembers going to the laboratory to find Shan Yu but finding a note from Shan Yu explaining his whereabouts instead. After Yin Xun tells Shan Yu, he uses the remaining candle to travel back to the place where the incident happened ten years ago and saves his past self.
Shan Yu realizes that there must be hidden concerns behind his own murder by Zheng Zhe. He hopes to change everything through his own efforts and is glad that his past self from ten years ago can say such words. He takes the past Shan Yu directly to find Min Ying, and they make a pact to meet again in ten years. Shan Yu entrusts the camera to his past self, instructing him to take good care of it as it is the best evidence.
He hopes that his past self will never give up on Min Ying, and no matter how much Min Ying pushes him away, she still loves him. Everything Min Ying has done was out of necessity.
