Episode 12 recap: Wang Pingguo sees through Chen Chao's scheme and becomes a victim.
Chen Chao repeatedly claims that the buyer he found is Mr. Zhang, and he asks Wang Pingguo to reject the other buyer she found. Pretending to believe Chen Chao's words, Wang Pingguo takes out her phone to make a call, but as she recalls what the buyer said during the house viewing, she immediately realizes something is wrong. Wang Pingguo borrows Chen Chao's phone and asks him again who that person is, to which Chen Chao insists it is Mr. Zhang.
Wang Pingguo has already heard the name Li Shuang, who was Chen Chao's classmate in university, and now hearing it from Chen Chao's mouth raises suspicions. Chen Chao tries to explain, but Wang Pingguo snatches the phone and calls Li Shuang. Li Shuang doesn't know who is calling and immediately asks Chen Chao if they are still going ahead with the house matter, exposing Chen Chao's lies.
Wang Pingguo reveals that she has known about Chen Chao's relationship with Wang Meimei for some time, but because Yin Bing was sick, she didn't have the time to deal with it. She never expected them to plot against her house. Wang Pingguo declares that she can't tolerate it anymore and she will definitely report them to the police. Upon hearing this, Chen Chao panics, while Wang Meimei remains calm and hits Wang Pingguo on the head with an object.
After Wang Pingguo is knocked unconscious, Wang Meimei uses Wang Pingguo's hand to leave her fingerprints, signs a contract, and claims the house as her own. Then, together with Chen Chao, they plan to abandon Wang Pingguo at the cliff. Chen Chao hesitates about Wang Meimei's actions, but driven by self-interest, he disregards their marital bond and lacks any sense of conscience. Thus, he follows Wang Meimei's instructions and throws Wang Pingguo off the mountain cliff.
A year later, You Yuan purchases Wang Pingguo's house and has been searching for her, but to no avail. He feels immense guilt for not staying by Wang Pingguo's side to protect her. Chen Chao, using the money from Wang Pingguo, secures the position of regional director and takes advantage of his position to flirt with other female subordinates in the company.
While Chen Chao is having an intimate conversation with Li Li in the office, Li Sheng comes in and pleads with Chen Chao to spare him but gets chased away. After driving away Li Sheng, Chen Chao intends to call Li Li inside, but unexpectedly, Wang Meimei appears at that moment.
