Episode 22 recap: Yu Yuan got injured while trying to save Wang Pingguo.
As soon as Wang Pingguo left the bar, she was targeted by the people brought by Wang Meimei. They immediately surrounded her. When Wang Pingguo was surrounded, Wang Meimei walked up and slapped her, accusing her of stealing her man. Then she ordered her people to beat up Wang Pingguo. Seeing herself surrounded and unsure of what to do, Yu Yuan arrived on a motorcycle and came to Wang Pingguo's rescue.
Yu Yuan did everything he could to protect Wang Pingguo, but because Wang Meimei had a group of people with her, he couldn't possibly defeat them. Consequently, he ended up getting beaten badly. Wang Pingguo wanted Yu Yuan to leave first, but he insisted that she should go first while he stayed behind to deal with those people. When Wang Meimei realized that Yu Yuan was unable to fend off the attackers, she approached to see who the person defending Wang Pingguo was. To her surprise, she discovered it was Yu Yuan, and suddenly understood that he was the person Wang Pingguo cared about.
Upon discovering Wang Pingguo's identity, Wang Meimei immediately called Chen Chao to let him know that something big had happened. Wang Pingguo took Yu Yuan back home since he refused to go to the hospital. She could only take out the first aid kit and treat his wounds at home. Wang Pingguo asked Yu Yuan to take off his clothes so she could apply the medicine. Seeing the numerous injuries on Yu Yuan's body, she felt intense heartache and tears streamed down her face as she cleaned his wounds.
Wang Pingguo blamed Yu Yuan for being too foolish, but Yu Yuan expressed that it was because she was Wang Pingguo that he wanted to accompany her. Yu Yuan proposed that they go for a walk and chat together the next day, but Wang Pingguo mentioned that she had to go and pay respects to her mother as it was her mother's memorial day. Yu Yuan insisted on accompanying Wang Pingguo to pay respects to her mother and promised to be by her side all the time. He just wanted to see Wang Pingguo smile.
Wang Pingguo sadly informed Yu Yuan that her facial nerves were damaged and she would never be able to smile again. Seeing Wang Pingguo unhappy, Yu Yuan hugged her and reassured her that it didn't matter. He would always be by her side and wouldn't let her feel sad.
