Episode 23 recap: Wang Pingguo has obtained evidence of Chen Chao's guilt.
You Yuan comforted Wang Pingguo and asked her to consider him as a friend. He took her out to relax. When You Yuan was unhappy as a child, it was Wang Pingguo who took him out to fly kites and help him relax. So now, You Yuan wants to make Wang Pingguo happy. However, Wang Pingguo couldn't feel any happiness while watching You Yuan enjoy flying kites because she knows that You Yuan is such a good person and being with her is not suitable for him.
You Yuan doesn't care about social status. He just wants Wang Pingguo to give him a chance to take care of and protect her. Wang Pingguo wanted to persuade You Yuan to give up on her when suddenly, Lili called and informed her about the evidence they had obtained against Chen Chao for falsifying accounts. Lili told Wang Pingguo that she had already reported it to the police, and they would arrive soon. Wang Meimei also made an appointment with Wang Pingguo for negotiations.
Chen Chao and Wang Meimei hurriedly packed their belongings, intending to burn all the evidence in the house before the police arrived. However, before the police could come, Wang Pingguo arrived first. Chen Chao wanted to threaten Wang Pingguo and settle the score, but Wang Pingguo took out a lighter and threatened to die with him, leaving both Chen Chao and Wang Meimei unable to take any action.
Terrified of death, Chen Chao and Wang Meimei immediately knelt down and apologized to Wang Pingguo. While apologizing, they also tried to shift the blame onto each other, resulting in a heated argument between them. Wang Pingguo angrily scolded them, telling them to stop arguing. Wang Meimei blurted out that she wanted to turn herself in, hoping Wang Pingguo would forgive them.
As soon as Chen Chao heard about turning themselves in, he immediately objected, fearing that if they went, they wouldn't be able to come back. It was only then that Wang Meimei regained her senses and decided to confront Wang Pingguo together with Chen Chao. Wang Pingguo reminded Chen Chao and Wang Meimei that she was prepared to die with them. If they dared to make any rash moves, she would set the house on fire. In that case, she could claim it was self-defense, and everything would have nothing to do with her.
