Episode 8 recap: Linglong Pagoda was captured by the Butterfly Valley monsters.

Sun Wukong helped Tang Seng subdue the White Dragon Horse and continued their journey to the Western Heaven to obtain the scriptures. Tang Seng noticed that Sun Wukong was not following the correct route and stopped to ask him what was going on. Sun Wukong explained to his master that they were going to the Western Heaven to obtain the scriptures, not to help the Heavenly Court eliminate evil. He asked why they should follow the route arranged by the Heavenly Court. The route he chose for his master was meant to perfectly avoid the places where monsters appeared.

Seeing that Tang Seng was still somewhat reluctant, Sun Wukong continued to persuade him, saying that it wasn't him who begged the Buddha to undertake the journey, but rather the Buddha wanted him to go. Therefore, haste would only lead to failure. With Sun Wukong's heartfelt persuasion, Tang Seng finally agreed to proceed according to the route he had chosen.

Yanwu, the mole strategist, looked at the map and noticed that Tang Seng had changed his travel route. He called Linglong Pagoda and others together to discuss countermeasures. No matter how perfect their arrangements were, if Tang Seng didn't pass through their location, it would all be in vain. After some thought, Linglong Pagoda told them that if they wanted to become rich, they should first build a road. If they wanted to lure Tang Seng to their location, they needed to build a heavenly road, and then Tang Seng would come voluntarily.

The smaller demons felt that Linglong Pagoda made a reasonable point and fully supported his wise decision. Although Pang, the steward, wanted to oppose it, he couldn't go against the majority and could only watch as Linglong Pagoda led the demons of the Flower Neck Mountain in infrastructure construction. Linglong Pagoda didn't expect that by simply expressing his desire to eat Tang Seng's flesh, the others would support him so wholeheartedly, and he felt more and more comfortable in his role as the Great King.

Linglong Pagoda led the demons in road construction, and when they reached Butterfly Valley, the Butterfly King and his followers captured him. The Butterfly King captured Linglong Pagoda because the Spider Demon had kidnapped the Butterfly Queen. They knew that Linglong Pagoda had some connection with the Spider Demon, so they wanted to use him as a hostage to exchange for the release of the Butterfly Queen.

Upon learning that Linglong Pagoda had been captured by Butterfly Valley, the mole strategist called everyone together to discuss countermeasures. The group suggested using military force against Butterfly Valley to teach them a lesson. However, the mole strategist believed that Flower Neck Mountain should not make pointless sacrifices. As a result, he decided to go alone and negotiate with the Butterfly King, without involving the others. The mole strategist arrived at Butterfly Valley and explained his purpose to the Butterfly King. Before he could finish speaking, the Butterfly King ordered his men to capture him and lock him in the prison where Linglong Pagoda was held. The mole strategist saw Linglong Pagoda and quickly expressed his loyalty, but Linglong Pagoda thought that the mole strategist was just another prisoner without the ability to save himself, let alone rescue Linglong Pagoda.

Seeing Linglong Pagoda's disbelief, the mole strategist explained everything he had done before coming to Butterfly Valley. Linglong Pagoda was still skeptical, wondering if the mole strategist was deceiving him, when suddenly the Butterfly King ordered their release. Upon meeting the Butterfly King, Linglong Pagoda realized that the mole strategist's words were true. The reason the Butterfly King released them was that the Spider Demon from the Web Cave had released the Butterfly Queen.
