Episode 17 recap: Bai Shizhou and Lin Yun's conflicts gradually arise.

After Dr. Zhou saw the facilities at the clinic and realized how outdated they were, he expressed his concern about the unhygienic conditions. Seeing Li Chang Sheng using sterilization methods, he commented that it was unsanitary considering the current advanced conditions. Bai Shizhou took Lin Yun on a tour and, upon observing the conditions, Lin Yun mentioned how much he suffered when seeking medical treatment here.

Dr. Zhou immediately asked Wang Ya Nan to call Bai Shizhou upon seeing the statistics on the computer. At that moment, Bai Shizhou mentioned that he had long-term plans for the clinic. Lin Yun asked if he had included himself in those plans. Dr. Zhou questioned Bai Shizhou's incomplete examinations and their use of non-certified herbal medicine. He believed their methods were too reliant on luck. Upon hearing their treatment approach, Lin Yun criticized them for being hasty and not sending patients for comprehensive examinations at regular hospitals. Li Chang Sheng defended their practices, stating that he had been working there for many years without any issues.

Wang Ya Nan argued that their approach was the most reasonable for the villagers. Lin Yun, however, felt that Bai Shizhou was being somewhat irresponsible. Dr. Zhou and Lin Yun worked together to diagnose the villagers, but as soon as the patients heard their treatment plan, they immediately asked about the cost. Although their plan lacked widespread acceptance, Lin Yun and the others failed to acknowledge their own shortcomings and instead deemed themselves hasty. Dr. Zhou found Lin Yun and explained that the issue was not just about the equipment but also the attitude of the two doctors. Lin Yun believed that the focus should still be on the inadequate facilities.

While cutting vegetables, Wang Ya Nan injured her hand and sought help from Li Chang Sheng. He advised against simply using a band-aid for such a wound and recommended getting a tetanus shot to ensure their medical practices were considered standard.

When Lin Yun entered the office and saw the Compendium of Materia Medica on the desk, she remarked on the vast difference in their ideologies. Bai Shizhou mentioned that she had always been like that since college, and it hadn't changed. Lin Yun jokingly called herself outspoken.

Ma Chong Feng noticed He Tianhu's expression and asked if he was feeling particularly happy because his daughter-in-law was pregnant. He Tianhu openly admitted his joy, and the two of them went out for a drink. Meanwhile, Bai Shizhou and Lin Yun had a heart-to-heart conversation in the office. Lin Yun inquired about Wang Ya Nan, and Bai Shizhou explained that she was just helping him out and that there was nothing more to it. Lin Yun, feeling a bit jealous after learning that Wang Ya Nan frequently did Bai Shizhou's laundry and cooking, was eventually appeased by Bai Shizhou. Just as they were about to leave, Bai Shizhou noticed Wang Ya Nan's clothes in his room and immediately questioned how they got there. Bai Shizhou suggested that it might have been a mistake made by the laundry staff. During the meal, Lin Yun brought out Wang Ya Nan's clothes, creating an awkward atmosphere.

Wang Ya Nan quickly explained herself, as did Wu the accountant. When Dr. Zhou chimed in, Li Chang Sheng jokingly remarked that he was indeed a dog person. Bai Shizhou added more food to Lin Yun's plate at the dinner table, and Li Chang Sheng, noticing this, picked up a piece of food for Ya Nan. Dr. Zhou pointed out the unhygienic practice and suggested using a pair of public chopsticks. Subsequently, a pair of public chopsticks was brought over. Dr. Zhou noticed Li Chang Sheng drinking and commented that it was good wine. Wu the accountant promptly arranged a wine glass for Dr. Zhou, but Li Chang Sheng mentioned that he had brought his own wine and decided not to offer it to them to prevent any mistakes from happening.

Just as the two were about to leave, Dr. Zhou suddenly experienced stomach pain. Immediate arrangements were made to take him to the restroom. Initially, Li Chang Sheng paid no attention to it, but upon hearing that the tall guy had picked fresh wild vegetables from the mountains behind the village to cook the dish, he realized that it was this dish that had caused Dr. Zhou's severe diarrhea. The tall guy's colleague also felt guilty for not being cautious enough, as although he despised formalism, he maintained a strong sense of professional ethics as a doctor.

While Dr. Zhou was in the restroom, Wang Ya Nan expressed her hope that they wouldn't be in a hurry and assured them that once he returned, a convoy would be arranged to take them to the town. They would be able to arrive before nightfall. Lin Yun turned to Ya Nan and asked if there was a specific reason for her urgency to get them back.
