Episode 19 recap: Li Chang Sheng was suspended pending investigation.
Ma Chong Feng found Li Chang Sheng and mentioned that he had just returned from the secretary's office. He assured Li Chang Sheng that he would find a way to prove his innocence. Li Chang Sheng replied that he wasn't afraid of them investigating him, and Ma Chong Feng openly stated that his priority now was to cooperate fully with the investigation. He promised to clear Li Chang Sheng's name when the time came. Li Chang Sheng, however, asserted that he was innocent and didn't need anyone to clear his name, then he left.
Wang Ya Nan turned around and met Bai Shi Zhou. He admitted that he had indeed said something wrong earlier. Ya Nan stated that if he was willing to acknowledge that she was a good girl, she wouldn't hold it against him. Bai Shi Zhou approached the upset Li Chang Sheng to comfort him, assuring him that she came to console him and hoped he wouldn't be anxious. Li Chang Sheng honestly stated that he had nothing to be anxious about because he hadn't done anything wrong.
Li Chang Sheng then handed over the materials he had organized to Bai Shi Zhou, expressing that he could now rest assured and take some time off. Wang Ya Nan accompanied Ma Chong Feng to welcome the investigation team, saying that he would wait there for Bai Shi Zhou to hurry them inside.
The investigation team reassured Li Chang Sheng, expressing their hope that he wouldn't be nervous. They mentioned that they had heard many things about him over the years and would never wrong a good person. Ma Chong Feng added that they wouldn't let a bad person get away either. Li Chang Sheng gave him a disdainful look. The investigation team found Li Chang Sheng's records to be normal, with the exception of missing materials from 2017. Bai Shi Zhou printed out the materials, and upon examining the copies, Li Chang Sheng realized that his prescription had been tampered with. In order to find out the truth and uncover the facts, they decided to investigate the events of that year and the fees involved.
Wu Da Wei looked at the information they provided and admitted that he couldn't remember. He specifically remembered one prescription because he paid for it with his own tea leaves, and it was obvious to anyone that the prescription was fake due to its high cost.
After Wu, the accountant, found the account book at home, it became strong evidence confirming that Li Chang Sheng did not charge exorbitant medical fees. The investigation team then decided to leave.
When Li Chang Sheng wanted to go home, he unexpectedly fainted. Bai Shi Zhou couldn't understand the motive behind such baseless accusations against Li Chang Sheng. Wang Ya Nan suggested that they should go back and check on Li Chang Sheng because he cared about his reputation, and they were not detectives, so they needed to accompany him.
Bai Shi Zhou and Wang Ya Nan arrived at Li Chang Sheng's home. Li Chang Sheng asked why they had come at this hour. Wang Ya Nan asked if it was because of Guifen that they couldn't talk openly here. Bai Shi Zhou expressed concern about the bicycle that had fallen at the doorstep and its impact on his health, but Li Chang Sheng assured them that he was perfectly fine.
Wu, the accountant, mentioned that he had presented strong evidence that day and wondered if he should praise himself. He also believed that the person who reported Li Chang Sheng initially did so out of jealousy, as he had won people's hearts and prevented his colleagues from making money. Now, they just needed to find out who recently had lower expenses by inquiring around, and they would find the person. Wang Ya Nan asked Bai Shi Zhou why he looked worried. He suggested that either it was because of his girlfriend or Li Chang Sheng. Bai Shi Zhou candidly expressed his doubts about his own persistence, as Li Chang Sheng had been working diligently in Xiancao Village for many years, yet he was still reported. This made him question his own convictions.
Wang Ya Nan stated that all of this was pointless and that there was no need to doubt oneself. The most important thing now was to resolve personal matters. Bai Shi Zhou remarked that he felt Lin Yun didn't quite understand him, and he hadn't done anything wrong. Wang Ya Nan mentioned that sometimes, girls didn't have to admit they were wrong before apologizing. Many times, he valued the other person's attitude more. As long as he was willing to compromise a bit, everything would be fine. Bai Shi Zhou left with a skeptical expression, and Wang Ya Nan watched his departing figure with a hint of melancholy in his eyes.
Meng Qiu was having a meal at a restaurant when unexpectedly the owner said they couldn't bring their own alcohol because it was a small business. They argued, but Ma Chong Feng intervened and said they could let it go this time since he was indeed bringing medicinal wine, which was beneficial for his health. When asked about anyone recently coming to the restaurant and indulging in excessive drinking and dining, the owner said it hadn't happened. Business had been consistently poor lately, and if it weren't for Meng Qiu, they would have closed down long ago.
