Episode 9 recap: The outcome of the Li Chang Sheng tournament is worrying.
Everyone is curious about who will win. Ma Chong Feng tries to win over his wife by showing affection, but she believes he's only doing it to make her act as a mole, which she refuses to do. When Li Chang Sheng examines a patient, he warns that if things continue this way, the person will not live past three years. The person immediately begs for mercy, and Li Chang Sheng prescribes some medication.
Bai Shi Zhou examines a patient and emphasizes the importance of early detection and treatment for their condition, advising against waiting until it's too late. When villagers seek medical advice from Li Chang Sheng, he comments on the excessive makeup one of them is wearing and suggests removing it before seeking treatment. Director Wen visits Li Chang Sheng and explains that he's too busy with work to come earlier. He mentions that he also signed up for their tournament, which is why he came to report. Li Chang Sheng asks him the purpose behind it, and Director Wen reveals that he wants the villagers to have a better understanding of Bai Shi Zhou. Li Chang Sheng remains silent and pours a bowl of red date soup, while Director Wen compliments his good memory.
Bai Shi Zhou visits Da Wei for a medical examination. Da Wei's wife asks if there are any benefits to participating in the examination, to which Bai Shi Zhou replies that there are none, but he advises Da Wei to have an X-ray taken at the clinic when he has time. Meng Chun and others gather for a drinking session, and someone claims that alcohol is a refined grain that makes one look younger the more they drink. Just as they exchange a few words, Da Ze faints.
Wu, the accountant, comes for a medical examination and gets angry when he learns that he has coronary heart disease. Bai Shi Zhou reassures him that the disease is not as terrifying as it seems. Da Ze encounters Bai Shi Zhou at the health center and quickly goes in for a medical check-up. Wu regrets going to the health center, realizing that he had no issues before, but now, after the examination, he has been diagnosed with several illnesses. The villagers have various opinions about the patient grouping done by Bai Shi Zhou and Li Chang Sheng, as each group has its advantages and disadvantages, and every group has difficult patients.
Bai Shi Zhou sees Wu, the accountant, and asks what's wrong. Wu expresses worries about his illness. Bai Shi Zhou gives him some medicine and tells him to finish taking it before coming to see him again. Bai Shi Zhou approaches Gui Fen and asks her what she's concerned about. Gui Fen explains that Li Chang Sheng has always taken care of her illness, and she feels uneasy with someone else looking after her.
Bai Shi Zhou understands her concerns because his father passed away in a similar manner. He became a doctor to treat patients like his father. Gui Fen asks him why a promising young man like him came to this place. Bai Shi Zhou straightforwardly states that he came for his ideals. Gui Fen suggests that his enthusiasm may only last a short while. Bai Shi Zhou firmly declares that he will prove himself to her.
Meng Chun and others approach Li Chang Sheng, admitting they made a mistake. When Li Chang Sheng asks where they went wrong, they admit that they shouldn't have sought treatment from Bai Shi Zhou. Li Chang Sheng bluntly remarks that they were just being foolish. Gui Fen finds Li Chang Sheng and questions the fairness of being placed in another group. Li Chang Sheng assures her that she should focus on her treatment because he won't lose to a college student. Gui Fen advises him not to be too ruthless and scare people away.
Everyone is curious about the outcome of their match. Xiao Ze suggests that since Bai Shi Zhou is so busy helping them, they should actively cooperate. Xiao Ze reveals that he made a bet with the representative of the other group, and if they lose, they have to treat them to a feast of delicacies. Bai Shi Zhou organizes a group jog but exempts himself due to his leg discomfort.
After the blood pressure results are announced on the tenth day, Li Chang Sheng's group hasn't made significant progress, causing concern among the others. Meng Qiu and others secretly drink alcohol, thinking that Li Chang Sheng wouldn't find out. However, Li Chang Sheng suddenly appears and scolds them for drinking.
Li Chang Sheng explains that traditional Chinese medicine takes time to show results, so they should take it slowly. After seeing the members of Bai Shi Zhou's group exercising daily, he suggests that they can practice tai chi, which would help with their physical fitness and overall health. However, Bai Shi Zhou's plan encounters difficulties as everyone becomes busier, and they can't come for check-ups and exercises as regularly as before.
