Episode 21 recap: Lanxi is trapped by her feelings.
Lanxi longs for Qin Zhixing. When she looks through the photos Qin Ziyue took for her in high school and sees Qin Zhixing in the pictures, she realizes that Qin Zhixing truly liked her since high school. She really wants to be with Qin Zhixing, but because of Qin Zhao's interference, Qin Zhixing is now with Tang Tianjing. Lanxi is in immense pain. She wants to be selfish for once, but she can't convince herself to do so.
Qin Zhao is also having a difficult time during this period. He comes to see Lanxi and learns from Qin Ziyue that Lanxi is suffering every day because of her feelings for Qin Zhixing. He feels extremely distressed. Mistaking Qin Zhao for Qin Zhixing, Lanxi questions why he pursued her and then ended up with Tang Tianjing. Qin Zhao looks at Lanxi, who is tightly hugging him, feeling miserable because she mistook him for Qin Zhixing.
Qin Ziyue reminds Lanxi that the person in front of her is Qin Zhao. Lanxi immediately lets go and, supported by Qin Ziyue, returns to her room in a daze. Qin Zhao watches Lanxi, who has lost her former brightness, and regrets impersonating Qin Zhixing, which intentionally ruined his image in Lanxi's heart. At the same time, he feels pathetic for himself, as no matter what he does, he still can't make Lanxi accept him.
Qin Zhixing drinks alone in his office. Tang Tianjing receives a call from Qin Zhixing's mother and goes to find him. She learns that Lanxi is an oasis in Qin Zhixing's heart, while she herself is a despairing quicksand, and tears fall uncontrollably. Qin Zhao finds Qin Zhixing and reveals the truth about Tang Tianjing's fake pregnancy. Overjoyed, Qin Zhixing hugs Qin Zhao and kisses him twice.
