Episode 7 recap: Wen Hui Xin rushed to the scene of the fire.
After receiving a phone call from Wen Hui Xin, Liu Yan also went to the scene of the incident. The whole building was engulfed in flames at the time. Zhang Jia Yan couldn't find Liu Yan and, after questioning Ma Jia Ming, suspected that Liu Yan had arrived at the scene late to obtain firsthand information as requested by Wen Hui Xin.
As the live broadcast was about to begin, Zhang Jia Yan asked Ma Jia Ming to find Liu Yan while she set up the camera and started the live stream. Zhang Jia Yan mentioned during the live broadcast that the fire may have been caused by illegal construction. Ma Jia Ming found Liu Yan's dropped work badge and became even more certain that Liu Yan should have been at the scene conducting evidence collection and investigation. Liu Yan also captured the entire panorama of the unauthorized renovation, which was crucial information for them.
However, at that moment, Wen Hui Xin had also arrived, and soon her former subordinates came to help as well. This time, she caught Liang Jing Ren off guard. Ma Jia Ming was still searching for Liu Yan, while Zhang Jia Yan continued reporting live from the scene.
It was the last day of Wen Hui Xin's work, and she informed Liang Jing Ren of her location, which was the broadcasting room. Liang Jing Ren and Wen Hui Xin got into an argument, and Wen Hui Xin naturally didn't back down. Xu Ying Fei, who was watching the situation unfold, didn't mind the commotion and even said that if this matter succeeded, he would claim it was his plan. On the other hand, if it failed, he would blame Wen Hui Xin for acting alone. Wen Hui Xin readily agreed to this.
The story goes back to 2016 when Liang Jing Ren had already surpassed Wen Hui Xin and had become the anchor. Originally, Liang Jing Ren was just Wen Hui Xin's subordinate, but unexpectedly, this time he won against Wen Hui Xin. Previously, there was only one anchor, but now there were two. Wen Hui Xin felt quite uncomfortable about it.
Zhang Jia Yan saw Wen Hui Xin at the scene and became even more certain that Liu Yan must have been at the scene of the fire. Zhang Jia Yan was very angry and believed that Wen Hui Xin would go to any lengths, disregarding the lives of her colleagues, just to obtain firsthand information.
While Liu Yan was conducting the investigation, he accidentally fell from a stool, causing the fuel to spill and a sudden explosion to occur. The scene became chaotic, and Zhang Jia Yan became even more worried about Liu Yan's condition.
The prime time officially began, with Liang Jing Ren hosting the live broadcast in the studio while Wen Hui Xin reported from the scene. When Wen Hui Xin reached the safety exit, she found it blocked by clutter, making it impossible for anyone to leave from there.
Suddenly, another explosion occurred, and the corners of Liang Jing Ren's mouth couldn't help but curve upwards. Wen Hui Xin quickly instructed Xu Ying Fei to play a video. It turned out to be the footage filmed desperately by Liu Yan. Even in the most critical moment, Liu Yan managed to send the video to Wen Hui Xin, although they still hadn't been able to contact each other.
At that moment, the fire department arrived, and both Ma Jia Ming and Liu Yan were rescued by the firefighters. The fire was now under control, and Wen Hui Xin continued to conduct interviews at the scene. After Liu Yan and Ma Jia Ming safely came out, Wen Hui Xin finally felt relieved.
Wen Hui Xin performed exceptionally well in the final battle, but Liang Jing Ren was extremely angry. Everyone had worked so hard for the live broadcast, yet they couldn't surpass Wen Hui Xin's half-hour achievement. Xu Xiao Wei and Xu Shi Qing felt very dissatisfied. Wen Hui Xin noticed that Liu Yan's shoes were worn out and brought him a new pair to replace them. She also advised him to learn more from Zhang Jia Yan, who was a good mentor.
It can be said that Wen Hui Xin fought a great battle this time, while Liang Jing Ren mocked her from the sidelines. He only had one more hour left before officially leaving the TV station. Liang Jing Ren insisted that Wen Hui Xin had forced Liu Yan into the fire, but Liu Yan claimed that he had acted on his own without Wen Hui Xin's arrangement.
Since both sides had conflicting statements, Xu Ying Fei went to ask Zhang Jia Yan. Zhang Jia Yan didn't take a particular side. Wen Hui Xin actually knew that today's struggle was not only aimed at her but also at Zhang Jia Yan. She kindly reminded Zhang Jia Yan to be careful about what was coming next.
After Wen Hui Xin left, she went to be interviewed by other reporters. She stated that she was not stepping down due to a power struggle but because she felt exhausted. In reality, Wen Hui Xin had already secured her next position, so she wasn't worried at all. She confided in Xu Xiao Wei, revealing all the facts, and Xu Xiao Wei immediately informed Liang Jing Ren.
Surprisingly, Mrs. Fang turned out to be interested in Wen Hui Xin.
In fact, I feel that Wenjie is a morally ambiguous character. She does bear responsibility for the Liu Yan incident. She took advantage of a young girl's journalistic ideals, so she is not entirely blameless.
However, compared to Wenjie, the male lead is more malicious. He asked Wenjie to go to the north knowing that there would be a north wind blowing. This is blatant murder.
Wenjie never intended to kill anyone; she was just overly confident and somewhat extreme. She used Liu Yan to prove that her journalistic ideals were right, but she never wanted Liu Yan to die.
If something really happened to Liu Yan, she would blame herself as well. In conclusion, I don't think Wenjie is entirely without fault, but there is a more ruthless and sinister male lead who pushed her step by step.
Actually, the worst and most cunning character is Feiye. He is the truly evil one. The male and female leads didn't have conflicts originally, but he instigated them.
Liang plotted to murder Wen Jie, and apart from that one scene, it's rarely mentioned. Wen Jie did indeed mention that Liu Yan should look for surveillance footage, and Liu Yan, in a clear state of mind, pursued it out of his own beliefs and will.
Yet, some people keep using this as an excuse to continuously attack the female lead. Why does such a stark contrast emerge?
How did this Fei Ye manage to stay in this position for so long? He's like a brainless, naive character. It's obvious that Fang Tai said he wants to see a battle among the three, not to add another Chen Jiayan.
It should be Fei Ye, Man Jie, and Liang Jing Ren.
Suppressing Man Jie is also a test for Fei Ye. At this time, the more confident Fei Ye and Liang Jing Ren become, the more satisfying it will be for the audience when there's a reversal.
Fei Ye's position is undoubtedly meant for Man Jie.
I don't understand what's so appealing about it. Besides She Shi Man's great acting, the rest is just for passing the time. First of all, as a journalist, it's certain that they would be at the scene as soon as possible, like war correspondents.
Secondly, current affairs news is all about ensuring it's the latest, hottest, most highly focused, most authentic, and authoritative news. So, as a professional in the field, isn't that her job?
Moreover, workplace rules and the specialization of anchors have long been commonplace. Even today's top anchors follow the same daily routines; they just lack the strict professionalism and rigor of news reporting.
So, is it really that novel? Haven't you seen it before?
