Episode 1 recap: On his way to a job interview, Chen Hui bravely saved a little boy. Despite opposition, Director Pan insisted on keeping Chen Hui.
Chen Hui had another dream. He dreamt of buying fifty yuan worth of ground meat as a child, but his father angrily scolded him because it was the family's monthly food budget. Startled awake from his dream, Chen Hui washed up, got dressed, and tidied his room before grabbing his backpack and heading out the door.
He Qiong asked Director Bai Chun whether the new doctor was male or female, but Director Bai told him not to inquire. According to Bai, the newcomer was rumored to be a medical prodigy, and she advised the young doctors around her to be vigilant. Director Jiang, who was in charge of personnel, initially rejected Chen Hui's application for the residency program, but Director Pan personally intervened and brought him back. This prompted Director Jiang to approach Director Pan for an explanation.
Although Chen Hui's resume indicated that he was an exceptional medical genius, it also revealed his communication obstacles, posing a significant risk. Consequently, the hospital decided to conduct a group interview with Chen Hui to determine his suitability for staying. While walking down the street, Chen Hui was startled by a child who suddenly fell. The sound of the child's mother crying deeply touched him.
In the hospital, experts gathered to study Chen Hui's resume. He had received three scholarships in university and had recently won a research project award. Some wondered why such a talented individual wasn't employed, while others claimed that he had Asperger's syndrome and was unsuitable for the hospital. At that moment, Chen Hui was already involved in rescuing the child. He guided the doctors on the proper steps to save the boy, whose chest had been cut by glass. Emergency surgery was urgently needed. Without hesitation, Chen Hui grabbed a knife from a nearby shop and performed the procedure. The ambulance would take another fifteen minutes to arrive, but the child's life hung by a thread, with only two minutes remaining. Chen Hui decisively performed the surgery, successfully treating the boy's pneumothorax and restoring normal lung expansion.
Just then, the ambulance arrived, and Chen Hui boarded it. Upon seeing a change in the boy's condition, Chen Hui reminded the paramedics to perform an echocardiogram, but he was stopped by a security guard.
In the conference room of Puyun Hospital, everyone was still waiting for the group interview with Chen Hui, but he hadn't shown up yet. With no other option, Director Pan had to call for a vote. The result was eight votes against and eight votes in favor, with Director Liu Zhen Wei from the surgery department abstaining because he received a call about an emergency surgery. Director Pan signaled for him to go attend to the patient.
As Chen Hui entered, he bumped into Director Liu who was rushing out. It turned out that Director Liu had come for the little boy whom Chen Hui had saved. They all went into the operating room where the child had already lost blood pressure. Assistant Yuan Ye reminded Director Liu to perform an echocardiogram.
Upon learning that it was the person who brought in the injured patient who mentioned it, Director Liu urgently sent Yuan Ye to find Chen Hui. Chen Hui went to the administrative building to find Director Pan. Without hesitation, he demanded that an echocardiogram be performed on the child's heart. Director Pan and everyone else couldn't understand what he was saying. It was only when Yuan Ye hurriedly arrived and explained the situation that they understood. Director Pan quickly had her bring Chen Hui to the operating room. After the echocardiogram examination, they discovered a small piece of broken glass in the boy's body, eliminating the danger to his life. However, Chen Hui fainted. Director Pan was very satisfied with the outcome.
Director Pan sought Director Jiang's opinion, but Director Jiang wanted to hear everyone's opinions. Chen Hui was brought to the conference room. When Liu Zhen Wei asked him if he wasn't worried about the risk of infection from performing an open-chest surgery on the street, Chen Hui quietly said that he could never let someone else die in front of him again.
Director Pan encouraged him to speak his mind loudly. Chen Hui's mind flashed back to the scene of his sister dying in front of him, and he recited the medical oath aloud. Everyone was moved, and Director Pan stood up excitedly, telling everyone that saving lives at all times is Puyun Hospital's recruitment standard. His words won the applause of everyone present.
In the end, Chen Hui stayed in Director Liu Zhen Wei's department. He was warmly greeted by He Tong and Yuan Ye. Director Pan thanked Director Liu for taking in Chen Hui, but Director Liu didn't want any thanks. He said that Chen Hui's poor communication skills would be his weakness in the future and that if he were to back out in the future, Director Pan shouldn't get angry.
Director Pan handed Chen Hui his work ID, congratulating him on officially becoming a doctor. Chen Hui said he would come to work tomorrow. Director Jiang didn't understand why Director Pan was so protective of Chen Hui and was curious about their relationship. Director Pan simply said that their relationship wasn't important. Director Jiang reminded Director Pan to keep a close eye on Chen Hui because otherwise, it would be a big trouble.
Director Pan playfully remarked that being alive is indeed troublesome, but no one wants to die either.
The story is too far-fetched. In the second story, they have the divorced father donate his liver. With such a significant event, they didn't introduce the process of organ donation to the father, the precautions for the surgery, the impact on the donor's own body, the impact on the quality of future life, or the duration of recovery.
They also didn't give the donor any time to consider, nor did they understand the donor's concerns and difficulties. All the doctors collectively engaged in a moral judgment. If I were the donor, I would complain against all the doctors!
The surgical effects and the quality of subtitles are quite similar to American dramas.
