Episode 2 recap: Minmin talks about her relationship with Tani and others, while Nawa's life hangs by a thread as he is kidnapped.

Minmin is taken to the police station. Song Yang, who is still there, suddenly recalls his grandfather teaching him how to identify the smell of a dead body when he was a child. Huang Xiaotao interrogates Minmin, asking if she knows Tani. Minmin tells her that Tani and the others contacted her and asked her to go to the back mountain, but she didn't go. Huang Xiaotao tells her that Tani is dead, killed by carbon monoxide poisoning.

Minmin is shocked to hear this. She tells Huang Xiaotao that before that incident, Tani and the others had approached her. They insisted on getting to know her and forced her to have a relationship with them. When she refused, they physically attacked her, tearing off the jade pendant she wore around her neck. It broke into two pieces when it fell to the ground, and she felt heartbroken because her mother had given it to her, saying it would protect her.

Tani's accomplice, Nawa, sees Minmin being taken to the police station from a distance and realizes something is wrong. He starts to run, with Wang Chao and his men in pursuit, but Nawa manages to escape. The police inform Song Yang and Wang Dali that they can pay a fine and complete the procedures before leaving. Wang Dali is concerned about the money, and Song Yang sarcastically suggests that he stay there. In the end, Wang Dali pays the fine and takes Song Yang back home. According to tradition, Wang Dali orders Song Yang to step over a brazier and then lashes his body with aloe vera. Wang Dali quickly prepares two bowls of noodles.

However, when he brings the noodles out, Song Yang is nowhere to be found. Song Yang bought noodles for a little boy who was looking for his brother at the police station and followed him to his home. Seeing the boy's impoverished living conditions, Song Yang feels distressed. After carefully observing the house, he smells a familiar scent and concludes that she has been there. Nawa is tied up in an abandoned bathroom and has already passed out.

Song Yang returns to the police station, where the young boy is still waiting for his brother. Based on surveillance footage, the police discover that a man in black had been following Nawa until he disappeared. Nawa regains consciousness and manages to take out his cellphone from his pocket. The police receive Nawa's distress call and rush to the scene, but the location is too remote, and they struggle to find where Nawa is.

While the police are frantically searching for Nawa, the man in black arrives at the location where Nawa is tied up. Nawa frees himself from the ropes and fights against the man in black. He recognizes the person as Sakun, who stomps on Nawa's phone while he is talking to the police and then charges at Nawa with a knife. Nawa and the man in black engage in a fight, and Nawa's body is already covered in blood from multiple knife wounds.

The young boy begs the police to save his brother. Song Yang recalls the words of Police Chief Sun Hu, who had warned him not to mention his past with his grandfather to anyone. With something on his mind, Song Yang quickly rushes out of the police station, hails a taxi, and heads to a specific location.
