Episode 26 recap: Ma Jia wants to win back Liu Xiao Xian.
Dr. Qi Dan is about to leave Sanga. He specifically wants to visit Maile Village. Jiang Da Qiao welcomes him, and Sun Shuang specially prepares a hot pot. When Qi Dan sees the angelica, he knows it is good for the body because Sun Shuang cured Simba and sparked his interest in traditional Chinese medicine. So he deliberately researched and learned about this medicinal herb.
Qi Dan takes out his long-held bottle of brandy and wants to have a drink with Ma Jia, but Ma Jia has already quit drinking. Qi Dan can only enjoy the romance of the brandy himself. He hands over his patients to the Chinese medical team, and Jiang Da Qiao assures him that he can rest assured. While Qi Dan admires their cohesion, they also greatly admire his boundless love, hoping to help those in need of medical treatment.
Qi Dan feels a sense of home in Maile Village, looking at its vibrant atmosphere. He hopes to become a member of Maile Village, but he is about to leave soon. However, this place holds his memories and represents a unique romance. Ma Jia has arranged and organized all the objects and information left behind by previous medical teams and invites Qi Dan to visit, allowing him to learn about the origin of Maile Village.
Qi Dan is fascinated by the various and novel items he sees. He discovers a photo on the wall that includes his father and is moved to tears. Ma Jia is surprised and learns that Qi Dan's father was also a doctor who traveled and treated people everywhere. Ma Jia gives Qi Dan the photo along with Sun Shuang's notes on the "Huangdi Neijing."
As Qi Dan sits in the car leaving Sanga, he sees his father's photo and the accompanying message. Tears fill his eyes, and he solemnly places the photo in his notebook, holding it close to his chest. Liu Xiao Xian has already decided to resign. That day, she receives a call from Liang Sen Lin, who informs her that the Health Commission has arranged for relatives to visit Sanga for two weeks. Liang Sen Lin hopes that Liu Xiao Xian will have time to visit Ma Jia.
Liu Xiao Xian hasn't spoken to Ma Jia recently, so she is unaware of his efforts to save Amadou and the commendation he received from the Health Commission. After much thought, she decides to change her way of life. With her resignation letter in hand, she hastily arrives at her workplace and coincidentally shares an elevator with Nanjie. Due to their previous request for a job transfer, Liu Xiao Xian feels a bit awkward in Nanjie's presence. Both of them anxiously wait to leave the elevator quickly, but unexpectedly, the elevator malfunctions. Nanjie instinctively grabs the handrail and notices that Liu Xiao Xian does not. Curious, she asks the reason, and upon hearing Liu Xiao Xian's response that grabbing it won't make a difference, she wholeheartedly agrees. The two of them share a smile, and the tension between them dissipates.
Nanjie knew that Liu Xiao Xian had taken leave recently to take care of her father-in-law. Seeing her in a not-so-good state now, Nanjie brought up the topic of transferring to another position. If Liu Xiao Xian insisted, Nanjie could approve it. However, to her surprise, Liu Xiao Xian handed her a resignation letter, relieving Nanjie of the trouble. Nanjie guessed that Liu Xiao Xian's decision must be related to Ma Jia. She decided to keep the resignation letter for now, allowing Liu Xiao Xian to think clearly about what she truly wanted before making a decision.
Jiang Yao noticed that Xu Hui was feeling unwell today and hadn't taken her cold medicine on time. She quickly called Xu Hui to remind her and, after opening a pile of packages, discovered a particularly large suspender skirt. Jiang Yao couldn't help but wonder, and when she saw Xu Hui's unnatural expression upon her return, she examined the tag and realized it was a maternity skirt. She immediately guessed that Xu Hui was pregnant.
During the meal, Luo Jin Sheng kept serving food to Xu Hui, urging her to eat more. Jiang Yao asked Xu Hui if she was pregnant and told Luo Jin Sheng to make some ginger tea for Xu Hui instead of taking cold medicine. Luo Jin Sheng happily admitted that Xu Hui was indeed pregnant, but Xu Hui pinched him, asking Jiang Yao not to meddle in adult matters. Jiang Yao felt like an outsider and picked up her bowl to eat at the coffee table. Xu Hui's understanding nature made Jiang Yao's eyes well up, while Xu Hui herself felt guilty for keeping it a secret from Jiang Yao.
Liu Xiao Xian felt suffocated in her current life and wanted to divorce Ma Jia. This frightened her father, who quickly called Ma Jia in secret. He reminded Ma Jia of what he had said when Liu Xiao Xian married him—that she could endure hardship but not be treated unfairly—and assured him that Liu Xiao Xian could come back to their home anytime.
Ma Jia understood his father-in-law's intention and regretted pushing Liu Xiao Xian away. He called Liu Xiao Xian in an attempt to reconcile, but she simply ignored him. When she learned that he wanted to come back to see her, she directly told him to stay in Africa.
Ma Jia became anxious and urgently requested Jiang Da Qiao's approval to return home a few days earlier to visit family, without revealing the reason behind it. This left Jiang Da Qiao unsure whether Ma Jia had something important to attend to or not.
