Episode 15 recap: Zhao Ruoqi helped Empress Xuan solve the problem.
Empress Xuan took off her veil, revealing many spots on her face. She explained that it was because of these spots that she had been staying indoors and asked Zhao Ruoqi to help her solve this matter. Zhao Ruoqi asked Empress Xuan why she didn't seek the royal physician's help. Empress Xuan said she didn't want others to know, so she had asked people from her household to assist, but it was to no avail.
Zhao Ruoqi agreed to help. Empress Xuan handed her some medicine to drink, but Zhao Ruoqi refused, stating that if she didn't understand how to plan for herself, she couldn't cooperate with Empress Xuan either. Empress Xuan acknowledged Zhao Ruoqi's point and decided to wait for Zhao Ruoqi's solution. After considering for a moment, Zhao Ruoqi thought that the Fifth Prince would have a better understanding of palace affairs, so she went to seek advice from him.
The Fifth Prince questioned why he should tell Zhao Ruoqi, as Liu Rufan had already prepared something. Knowing that the Fifth Prince liked drinking, Liu Rufan had bought a cask of good wine in advance and presented it to the Fifth Prince. Delighted by the gift, the Fifth Prince suggested that Empress Xuan's condition was due to the adjustment to the new environment and advised her not to consume stimulating substances, but instead wash her face with rice water.
Empress Xuan tried this method and found it effective. She asked Zhao Ruoqi what gifts the Concubines had given her and requested that Zhao Ruoqi obtain those items for her, stating that they would be more effective in the hands of someone with higher status.
