Episode 4 recap: Tang Xin's confession was rejected.
Tang Xin believed that Tang Yu's request for her novel's renewal indicated his interest in her. She deliberately wore a red dress and went to the company to confess her feelings to Tang Yu. By that time, Tang Yu had already guessed that Tang Xin liked him. Although he thought Tang Xin was beautiful, physical appearance was not his sole criterion for choosing a girlfriend. Therefore, when he saw Tang Xin's hopeful eyes, he rejected her, citing their incompatibility.
Upon being rejected, Tang Xin immediately shed tears. Her tears hurt Tang Yu's heart. As Tang Yu was about to say something, Tang Xin wanted to preserve her dignity and left directly. Coincidentally, Gao Heng returned from shopping and bumped into Tang Xin, causing things to fall and hurting Tang Xin's shoulder. She thought about how she had liked Tang Yu for nearly 1,400 days since that fateful glance four years ago. She couldn't accept leaving it at that, so she went back to find Tang Yu. She accused him of asking her to help pursue her best friend, which she found absurd. She also questioned why, out of all the people in the company, he chose her when she got scratched by a cat. He gave her hope and then destroyed it with his own hands. She attributed all these actions to being that of a scumbag.
Tang Yu had never considered the questions Tang Xin raised. He was stunned when she suddenly kissed him. At first, he wanted to refuse, but Tang Xin's boldness made him unable to reject her. After kissing Tang Yu, Tang Xin convinced herself that since they had already kissed, she should consider it as having gotten what she wanted and not think about Tang Yu anymore. She wanted him out of her life.
Gao Heng witnessed everything clearly at the office entrance. He knew that Tang Yu didn't want this matter to spread, so he immediately assured that he would keep it a secret. Although Tang Yu tried to focus on his documents, his mind was elsewhere. Seeing this, Gao Heng quickly stated that the documents were not urgent. Tang Yu promptly asked Gao Heng to call Tang Xin. Tang Xin answered the call but bluntly stated that she had already tasted the flavor of Tang Yu, but it wasn't worth dwelling on, and then hung up.
That night, Tang Xin returned home and looked at the wall filled with Tang Yu's photos. Tears streamed down her face. In a fit of anger, she took down Tang Yu's photo and threw it on the floor. However, it didn't alleviate her sadness. The thought of her four years of unrequited love and finally gathering the courage to confess, only to be dismissed by Tang Yu's casual "incompatibility," made her feel deeply depressed.
Tang Xin's parents were deeply concerned about her marriage prospects. When Tang Xin's mother video-called her and saw her swollen eyes, she knew she had been crying and immediately asked for the reason. Tang Xin claimed it was due to writing a script, but her father, who knew her well, recognized her genuine sadness. Only then did Tang Xin reveal that she had experienced heartbreak and pleaded with her parents to stop constantly introducing prospective partners to her.
Tonight, Tang Yu couldn't sleep either. He kept thinking about everything with Tang Xin, but he hadn't realized that he had developed feelings for her. After the grand opening of the Time Cinema, Tang Yu had a few drinks to socialize. Just as he sat on the sofa to rest, Huo Chen Dong, who had also had too much to drink, came over curiously to inquire about the incident when Tang Xin went to find Tang Yu. Seeing Tang Yu's troubled expression, Huo Chen Dong had already guessed that Tang Xin had confessed to Tang Yu and was rejected.
Tang Yu was somewhat surprised by Huo Chen Dong's keen perception, but what concerned him was that Tang Xin only liked his money and appearance. Upon hearing this, Huo Chen Dong thought Tang Yu was a fool and deserved such a predicament. He didn't consider that Tang Xin, as a woman, had gathered the courage to confess her feelings, and he found fault with her for not giving a hundred reasons why she liked him.
After being criticized by Huo Chen Dong, Tang Yu also realized his mistake. He couldn't help but worry about Tang Xin and would involuntarily pay attention to her social media posts. When he saw the message Tang Xin posted, he knew that the pighead image was meant to insult him, but he still gave it a like, not expecting it to make Tang Xin misunderstand that he was threatening her.
Tang Xin had been working on the set recently, so Tang Yu specially visited the set to see her. However, this time, Tang Xin, who had always been gentle and considerate, took the opportunity to discuss the plot with the director and made a strong veiled attack on Tang Yu. Not only did she want to make the male second lead, who rejected the female lead, more miserable in the story, but she also wanted to directly sideline the male second lead in the romantic aspect.
After all, Tang Yu was just "listening casually" and couldn't interfere with the director's and Tang Xin's storyline. He could only feel frustrated in his heart. Tang Ding Ding went to the You Huan store to buy clothes once again. This time, with Tang Xin having just experienced heartbreak, her combat power was even stronger. She recommended the most expensive clothes to Tang Ding Ding, so even though there were only a few items, the prices were high enough to make Tang Ding Ding feel like she was being ripped off. So, she secretly called Tang Yu, only to find out that the woman in front of her was not Ming Zhu but Tang Xin. Tang Yu then revealed his identity to Tang Xin.
The female lead likes the male lead too much, so she lacks security and has a strong sense of self-esteem. That's why she doesn't want the male lead to discover that she has liked him for so long and so deeply, as it would make her feel insignificant.
In a moment of panic when she's caught off guard, she tries to hide her true feelings with a less serious attitude. The female lead didn't fully portray this aspect, but the male lead did a great job. Although he rejected her, it was evident that he actually liked her, but there was a temporary misunderstanding and he hadn't realized his own feelings.
He also had concerns about being with the best friend of a girl he pursued before.
