Episode 9 recap: Tang Yu confessed his feelings to Tang Xin.
Tang Ding Ding saw Tang Yu's car downstairs and assumed that Tang Yu was at Tang Xin's place. However, to her surprise, Tang Yu came out from the neighboring apartment. Tang Ding Ding then learned that Tang Yu had become Tang Xin's neighbor. She took the opportunity to question Tang Yu and discovered that he had bought both apartments in order to pursue Tang Xin.
On a warm day, Tang Xin invited You Huan, Han Xiao Xiao, and Tang Ding Ding to have a meal together. Tang Ding Ding intended to secure a spot for Tang Yu, but Tang Xin directly rejected the idea, stating that she hadn't prepared a place for him. Tang Yu's face immediately fell, and he had an unappetizing meal all by himself. Thinking about the laughter and joy from the neighboring apartment, his mood grew even more downcast.
Han Xiao Xiao was surprised to see Tang Ding Ding and secretly gossiped with Tang Xin. She mentioned that Tang Ding Ding now behaves at the office just like Tang Xin did back then, constantly visiting Tang Yu's office. Tang Ding Ding overheard a bit of their conversation and questioned Han Xiao Xiao about why Tang Xin always goes to see Tang Yu, but Tang Xin changed the topic.
Today, Tang Xin was having a happy day, so she posted a picture on her social media moments, showing a scene of her enjoying time with her friends. Tang Yu had been keeping an eye on Tang Xin and noticed that she used the word "almost" in her caption. He realized that Tang Xin was not pleased to discover that he was her new neighbor, and it made him feel disappointed.
After her friends left, Tang Xin played with her pet dog while Tang Yu, who wanted to see her, came knocking on her door. She knew that he would eventually come, but she wanted to delay it a bit. Tang Yu called Tang Xin directly and asked her to open the door, promising that he would just say a few words and then leave without entering.
Tang Xin hesitated for a moment but only opened the inner door. She asked Tang Yu through the outer door why he had come to see her. Seeing Tang Xin's cold attitude, Tang Yu couldn't help but wonder if he had hurt her to the point where they couldn't reconcile. Tang Xin felt bitter inside and murmured, "It's not just once," but Tang Yu didn't hear clearly. Unable to withstand Tang Yu's gaze, she chose to lean against the side of the door.
Tang Xin mentioned that when she was bullied as a child, she didn't dare to speak up. Her father always stood up for her. As she grew up, she became someone who would fight back whenever someone bullied her, hence earning the nickname "Little Tyrant." The implication was that it would be impossible for them to reconcile. Tang Yu called Tang Xin "Little Tyrant," bid her goodnight, and watched as she closed the door. He felt a sense of loss and stood in front of Tang Xin's door for a long time without leaving.
The next morning, Tang Yu woke up early to fry eggs. He had been working hard for a long time to achieve a nice shape, so today Gao Heng was lucky to have breakfast made by Tang Yu himself. In order to coincidentally encounter Tang Xin, Tang Yu deliberately waited in front of Tang Xin's door, listening for the sound of her footsteps to confirm that she was going out. Then he timed it perfectly to pretend it was a chance encounter.
Tang Xin was actually looking forward to taking the elevator with Tang Yu, but when the elevator doors closed, she didn't see him, and her mood instantly plummeted. Unexpectedly, right at the last moment before the elevator doors closed tightly, they reopened. The rising morning sun shone on Tang Xin's face, giving her a dreamy feeling. It wasn't until Tang Yu offered to give her the breakfast he made himself that she snapped out of it.
Tang Xin believed that as long as Tang Yu didn't provoke her, she would be able to recover quickly. However, Tang Yu directly expressed his intention to pursue her, and Tang Xin couldn't believe it. She suspected that Tang Yu was only chasing after her because she had run away. But her heart was already beating irregularly. After Tang Ding Ding's identity was revealed to the people in the company, no one dared to ask her to do any work. This made Tang Ding Ding very bored, so she sent a message to Tang Xin demanding compensation and mentioned what Tang Yu said last night about pursuing Tang Xin. She wanted to know if Tang Xin was going to be her sister-in-law.
Thinking about Tang Yu's attitude towards her today, Tang Xin's mind was in a mess, and she didn't know what Tang Yu meant. Tang Ding Ding hosted a gathering, and Tang Xin originally didn't have time to attend. However, Tang Ding Ding said she wanted to introduce clients to You Huan, so Tang Xin worked several extra days in a row to free up an evening to attend the gathering.
After drinking some alcohol, Tang Ding Ding started talking about the different levels of Tang Yu's affections, thinking that Tang Xin would be interested. But it only reminded Tang Xin of Tang Yu's pursuit of Ming Zhu, and she felt that she was at best just a backup option. Feeling sad, she drank too much and hid in another private room, crying by herself.
Tang Yu knew that both Tang Ding Ding and Tang Xin had had too much to drink, so he had Huo Chen Dong drive to pick them up. Tang Yu, in his capacity as Tang Xin's neighbor, escorted her home. By this time, Tang Xin was already drunk and, unconsciously filled with hope, wanted to confirm that the person in front of her was indeed Tang Yu. After Tang Yu helped her onto the bed, she reached out and touched his face, saying she had a secret to tell him, but he had to guess half of it first.
Tang Yu guessed that it had something to do with her feelings for him, but Tang Xin, with her eyes closed, shed tears and didn't respond anymore. Tang Yu's heart was scorched, and at that moment, he realized that Tang Xin's feelings for him were probably very deep.
I can truly relate to the female lead. I had a crush on a guy for four years, but I never confessed. I only gathered the courage to test the waters, and he rejected me. Later, two years later, he turned around and pursued me, but I didn't agree because he pursued me too easily.
He thought I would just be waiting for him.
