Episode 1 recap: Nan Yan Saves the Fallen Immortal

In the first episode, in the vast river of history, the cultivation world is like the countless stars in the sky - there are too many sects to count. The Moongazer Sect is especially formidable, known for its deep foundation in immortal arts. Nan Yan is a female disciple of the sect. Although her cultivation is not high, she has an unparalleled skill in using toxins to treat illnesses, earning her the title "Peerless Poison Master." However, she is often ostracized in the sect due to her aloof personality and low cultivation level.

One day, her fellow disciple Chu Jing suddenly rushed into Nan Yan's courtyard, wanting to burn her prized Vermilion Mist Flower that she had been growing for two years. When the flower was set on fire, it released a toxic gas that ended up poisoning Chu Jing. Despite this, Nan Yan, with a soft heart, did not seek revenge. Instead, she used her scorpion pet to suck out the poison from Chu Jing's body and then cured him with a secret medicine.

However, the Sect Leader's daughter Meng Ying and the Chief Disciple Fu Lang misunderstood the situation, thinking Nan Yan was covering for Chu Jing.

That night, the marketplace in the ravine was bustling with activity as everyone was discussing the fallen immortal Shao Cang. This man had gone mad and killed his fellow disciples, but was then captured by the Overseer Ying Ze Wei and imprisoned in the Soul River Jail. However, he had since escaped, and no one knew where he was hiding now.

Shao Cang sat alone in the corner of the marketplace, drinking wine and listening to the chatter, then silently left, passing by Nan Yan as if they were connected by an unseen thread.

In the past, there was a renowned cultivator named Jimo, who used the incredibly powerful "Scripture of the Seven Floating Karmas" to defeat the Demonic Monarch Sengluo and protect everyone. After Jimo's death, the scripture transformed into a spiritual talisman that began floating around, and no one knew where it was.

Shao Cang was expelled from his sect for accidentally killing a fellow disciple, and now he is on a quest to find the "Scripture of the Seven Floating Karmas," as it can identify demonic energy and is the key to clearing his name.

The Enforcement Elder Zhu Sui and his disciples are pursuing Shao Cang, but the clever Shao Cang manages to escape by disguising himself as Jimo.

Meanwhile, Nan Yan is preparing to go to the Polluted Valley to collect Vermilion Mist Grass, but she encounters the Elder Yu Yong from the Heavenly Fiend Sect, who is slaughtering the disciples of the Cultivation God Sect. Yu Yong is too powerful, and Nan Yan cannot escape, but Shao Cang arrives just in time to help her drive Yu Yong away. However, Shao Cang is severely injured and falls unconscious. Nan Yan takes him back and, finding him handsome and having the same heart condition as her mother, she develops a compassionate feeling towards him and decides to use him for an experiment.

Nan Yan ties Shao Cang up, claiming it's for his treatment, but she is actually imprisoning him, afraid he will escape. When Shao Cang wakes up and remembers his situation, he decides to quickly find the "Scripture of the Seven Floating Karmas." But just as he is about to leave, he discovers that a demonic entity is stirring within Nan Yan. He wants to subdue it, but Nan Yan stops him, inadvertently angering the demonic entity, which then takes control of Nan Yan, claiming to be the "Talisman of Karmic Killing."

Shao Cang delves into Nan Yan's mind and finds that the demonic entity is the very talisman he has been searching for. The talisman proposes a deal - if Shao Cang can help it leave Nan Yan's body by using a soul-seizing formation at the right time, it will acknowledge him as its master. Now Shao Cang and Nan Yan's fates are intertwined, and they must embark on a journey together to seek redemption, uncover the truth, and acquire power.
