Episode 12 recap: Nan Yan and Ji Yang Go Their Separate Ways

In episode 12, Nan Yan learns that Zhu Sui is rushing to the Yue Yue Sect with an anonymous tip, so she quickly arranges for Ji Yang to hide in the secret Filthy Valley. She gives him a precious Silver Qilin Pearl to help conceal his presence and evade the search. Ji Yang is initially reluctant to leave, but Nan Yan insists, saying that if he stays, he will inevitably be discovered and it could bring trouble to the sect.

Meanwhile, Mu Zhan Ting employs his familiar tactics to obstruct Zhu Sui's search efforts. Zhu Sui remains suspicious, particularly about a certain cabinet, which he is determined to open. Inside, he finds a unflattering portrait of Xuanzai, enraging him, and he promptly burns the painting before storming off.

Mo Xing Zheng and the others unexpectedly find clues pointing to Nan Yan in her residence. After a thorough search, they finally locate Nan Yan in the forest. With her eloquence, Nan Yan manages to rebut their accusations, leaving them speechless and unable to counter her.

Dao Sheng, seeking Xiao Cang, publicly summons all disciples to the plaza, claiming Xiao Cang is hiding within the Yue Yue Sect and offering a reward for information.

Fu Lang, recalling the mysterious attack he previously encountered, suspects it may be related to Xiao Cang. When Zhu Sui aggressively questions Fu Lang, he admits he has no knowledge of any leads.

Seeing Zhu Sui's relentless interrogation, Mu Zhan Ting steps forward and confesses to imitating Xiao Cang's handwriting, writing "Ji Yang" to prove his innocence.

Nan Yan also takes the opportunity to explain that she entered the Yue Yue Sect to seek treatment for her ailing mother, and that the man named Ji Yang she captured is no longer within the sect.

However, Zhu Sui remains skeptical of their claims and confronts Nan Yan with the portrait. Despite his persistent questioning, Nan Yan steadfastly denies ever seeing Xiao Cang.

Enraged, Zhu Sui attempts to use the Heart-Piercing Thunder to interrogate Nan Yan, prompting Mu Zhan Ting to intervene, only to be ambushed and restrained by Zhu Sui. Although Nan Yan continues to deny the accusations, she is still struck by the devastating lightning.

At the same time, Ji Yang senses Nan Yan's peril and rushes back to the sect. He secretly intervenes, shielding Nan Yan from the fatal blow and cleverly using his magic to turn the Heart-Piercing Thunder against Zhu Sui, leaving him incapacitated. Humiliated, Zhu Sui threatens Ji Yang to reveal himself or face further harm to Nan Yan.

Just as the situation escalates, Meng Zhi Guang arrives. Seeing the ominous lightning, he quickly restrains Ji Yang's impulsive actions, warning him that unchecked violence will have dire consequences. Meng Zhi Guang then summons Yin Ya and has him acknowledge Ji Yang's identity, diffusing the tension.

Although Zhu Sui lacks concrete evidence to identify Ji Yang as Xiao Cang, he still attempts to take Yin Ya. Meng Zhi Guang intervenes, asserting the sect's authority and emphasizing that even the imprisoned demon tribe deserves respect and forgiveness. His words leave Zhu Sui and the others without a response, and they reluctantly depart.

Afterward, Meng Zhi Guang, though shaken, is relieved to see Nan Yan unharmed. He realizes that Nan Yan's cultivation has advanced to the Dantian realm, enabling her to survive the Heart-Piercing Thunder. Grateful for Meng Zhi Guang's protection, Ji Yang decides to leave the Yue Yue Sect for good. He returns the Silver Qilin Pearl to Nan Yan's neck and leaves a note to bid her farewell.

Yin Ya, feeling guilty for the trouble he has caused Nan Yan, offers to heal her injuries. However, when he attempts to leave, Ji Yang stops him, having confirmed that Yin Ya was the informant. Determined to resolve this grudge and eliminate the risk to Nan Yan, Ji Yang decides to deal with Yin Ya himself.
