Episode 16 recap: Three Years Later, Everything Has Changed
In episode 16, the Demon Heartmaster told Nan Yan that to fully harness the power of the Seven Floating Karma Sutra, she must extinguish all emotions and achieve a serene heart. However, Nan Yan refused to forget her memories. To her shock, the Demon Heartmaster then removed his mask, revealing an identical face to Nan Yan's. Nan Yan realized that emotions are necessary to discern right from wrong and understand the cruelty of the world. Ultimately, Nan Yan allowed the Demon Heartmaster to return to her body, bearing the burden of the seven emotions to purge the demons and save the world - the most arduous path.
Meanwhile, Mu Zhan Ting awoke to the news of Ji Yang's passing and descended into a drunken grief, demanding to go out and avenge him. Mu Guang Han scolded his son, pointing out that Mu Zhan Ting could not even withstand a single move from Zhu Sui, let alone face a powerful enemy. To test Mu Zhan Ting's abilities, Mu Guang Han easily overpowered him, realizing his son still had much to learn.
Yin Ya entered the Violet Gold Basin and was told by the Bitter Master that he must undergo trials to earn the elixir that could break the seal on the demon array. Doubting the Master's words, Yin Ya was surprised when a young boy named Zhen Fang appeared, claiming to be his senior disciple overseeing his training.
Three years later, Mu Zhan Ting had refined the Great Sun Fire Essence, though still inferior to Mu Guang Han. Yin Ya obtained the so-called elixir, only to discover it was a common medicine, and his training partner had been the Bitter Master's projection.
Meanwhile, Nan Yan had become a renowned "Bloody Destroyer," a demonic cultivator who hunted down evil. She sent word that she was tracking a demonic sect kidnapping children in the North, and Yin Ya set out to find her. In an abandoned village, Yin Ya encountered a demonic cultivator, but Nan Yan swiftly appeared and effortlessly destroyed the villain, surprising Yin Ya with her ruthless efficiency in eliminating evil.
Regarding Ji Yang, Nan Yan no longer wishes to mention it, only wanting to emulate the Deity Absolution Master in killing demons and achieving enlightenment. Yin Ya laments that Nan Yan's determination is indeed steadfast, saying that she can let go just like that.
In the Yellow Springs Prison, Ji Yang, who had been sleeping for three years, was resurrected due to his unique physique and the blood of the Bright Bird left behind by Nan Yan. However, upon waking up, he had lost all his memories and his personality had undergone a drastic change. Senluo has been deceiving Ji Yang, hoping to use him to collect the Five Hells, but Ji Yang simply played along. With Senluo sealed within him, Ji Yang transformed into a half-human, half-demon, and absorbed all the dark blessings, becoming the Lord of the Yellow Springs Prison.
Afterwards, Ji Yang casually left the valley, first going on a rampage in a tavern, then entering the Jiming Palace to disrupt Senluo's madness before the Senluo statue. When passing by Nan Yan's residence, Ji Yang suddenly felt a sense of familiarity, and upon inquiring, learned that the nearby area was the Yanyue Sect.
It was the day of Nan Rao's memorial, and Meng Zhi Guang, upon seeing the Blood Phoenix Hairpin, was reminded of his old friend. Unexpectedly, the Lie siblings broke into the place and showed great reverence to a masked, black-robed man, addressing him as "Lord."
According to Meng Zhi Guang's understanding, the Heavenly Demon Sect's lord was the Demon Sovereign Senluo, but Senluo had already been vanquished. Thus, the identity of the person before them raised Meng Zhi Guang's suspicions. However, the black-robed man directly demanded that Meng Zhi Guang hand over the Blood Phoenix Hairpin, only to find that the item was not in his possession.
Lie Ci suspected that Meng Zhi Guang was leading them astray, so he immediately took Lie Jin and went to intercept Fu Lang and Meng Ying in the suburbs, severely injuring the two. In order to protect Meng Ying, Fu Lang had no choice but to take out the Blood Phoenix Hairpin, but just as Lie Ci was about to kill them, Nan Yan arrived in time to rescue them.
After the Lie siblings had retreated, Nan Yan appeared and inquired about the situation with Fu Lang, who confessed that his master had instructed him and Meng Ying to take the hairpin to the Sword Hero Mansion. At the same time, Ji Yang had intruded into the Yanyue Sect and was besieged by demonic cultivators, but when he had eliminated them all and saw Meng Zhi Guang being attacked by the black-robed man, he instinctively shielded Meng Zhi Guang and repelled the assailant.
