Episode 28 recap: Nan Yan's Secret Investigation
In the wake of the Senro's destruction, Ji Yang faces a heartbreaking choice. Even by sacrificing himself, he can't escape witnessing Nan Yan suffer an endless torment. Nan Yan, imbued with the Senro's power, is burdened with the Seven Floating Evils, her life hanging by a thread. She has only 99 days and 81 nights left.
The only way to save her is for Ji Yang to gather the power of the Five Prisons and then for Nan Yan to end his life with her own hands. This would release the Yin Blessing's full potential, a tragic redemption through a life-for-life exchange. After confirmation from Master Ku Hai, Ji Yang finally understands the truth behind the Senro's resurgence and the world's impending decay.
Meanwhile, Yun Qin of the Yao Palace suddenly appears in the Dragon City, wielding the legendary Yao Palace's Cold Sword to easily defeat Mu Zhan Ting. Her intentions are not to fight, but to settle things quickly. Mu Zhan Ting has urgent matters to attend to and doesn't have time to delve deeper.
Elsewhere, Nan Yi breaks through a barrier, desperate to learn about her elder sister Nan Rao's whereabouts from Ying Ze Wei. It turns out that Ying Ze Wei and Nan Rao shared a deep love and faced a celestial thunder tribulation together. However, Nan Rao was sent to the Foul Valley to strengthen a seal, while Ying Ze Wei was imprisoned, leaving them separated and filled with regret.
Nan Yi mistakenly believes her sister met an unfortunate fate in the seal and is heartbroken.
The Wheel of Reincarnation Prison is hidden within the Mountain Sea Forbidden Tome, a place that has remained closed for years. Ji Yang wants to go to the Dragon City to find clues, but Yin Ya stops him. Yin Ya insists on sacrificing herself for Nan Yan, even threatening suicide, begging Ji Yang for another chance to help. Her heartfelt plea is moving.
Nan Yan sneaks into the forbidden area and discovers a courtyard strikingly similar to Nan Rao's old home. Just as she's about to investigate further, Mu Guang Han arrives and stops her. Mu Zhan Ting rushes in and reveals the shocking truth: Nan Yan is actually Nan Rao's daughter.
Mu Guang Han's demeanor changes drastically, and he becomes incredibly caring towards Nan Yan. She takes the opportunity to inquire about the Blood Phoenix Pin, but learns it's not there. She decides to visit the Tide Rain Tower, where her mother used to live, to search for it.
Mu Guang Han drowns his sorrows in alcohol, reminiscing about the past with Meng Xiao Lou and warning him not to reveal old secrets to the younger generation.
Before Mu Guang Han can finish, Meng Xiao Lou quietly leaves. Taking advantage of his father's absence, Mu Zhan Ting secretly tells Nan Yan about the hidden masters within the Dragon Court and defends his father, explaining the misunderstanding caused by inviting various sects.
The next day, the sects gather in the Dragon Court. Ying Ze Wei's absence causes a stir. Zhu Sui, representing Dao Sheng Tian, arrives, further escalating the tension. Nan Yan observes secretly and confirms that only Meng Xiao Lou and Mu Guang Han possess the power of a Divine Transformation. Mu Guang Han publicly announces Nan Yan's identity and proposes a new election for the Emperor to fill the void left by the deceased Emperor of Heaven.
Yun Qin steps forward and argues that the election should be open to all sects, not just those within Dao Sheng Tian. This proposal receives widespread support. After gathering opinions from various parties, Mu Guang Han decides to open the Mountain Sea Forbidden Tome three days later to hold the Emperor's election assembly. The Dragon Court is filled with intrigue, as various factions scheme in the shadows. Nan Yan and Ji Yang's fates intertwine in this power game, writing a legendary tale of love, sacrifice, and redemption.
