Episode 30 recap: Ji Yang and Nan Yan Enter the Mountain and Sea Forbidden Realm
Although Mu Zhan Ting expressed his support for Nan Yan, he couldn't get his hands on a pass token. Unexpectedly, Yun Biao appeared and said he had a plan. He then took Mu Zhan Ting to a teahouse where the tokens were being distributed. Instead of using any tricks, he boldly demanded a token, but was dismissed by the owner. He even lost his own token!
Mu Zhan Ting watched amusedly, then decided to take matters into his own hands. He subtly caused the people at the next table to have diarrhea, and while they were distracted, he stole their token. Meanwhile, Yin Ya transformed into someone else and managed to get two tokens, keeping one for herself and giving the other to Ji Yang.
On the day of the competition, everyone gathered in Longdu. Mu Guang Han and Meng Xiao Lou worked together to break the seal of the Mountain and Sea Forbidden Realm. Everyone entered the realm and was scattered to different locations. Ji Yang, despite being under investigation, risked entering the realm to find Nan Yan, and his presence was noticed by both Meng Xiao Lou and Mu Guang Han.
Nan Yan was transported to a remote area in the eastern part of the Nine Tribulations Sea. She tried to find her way to the Mountain and Sea Palace. Hearing the voice of "Ji Yang," she followed it, only to discover it was not him but a strange little boy. The spirits in the Forbidden Realm use the voices people most desire to lure them into traps. The boy used magic to hold Nan Yan captive.
The Forbidden Realm is an extremely cold place, and Nan Yan was using a lot of her spiritual energy just to stay warm. At this rate, she wouldn't last long. Meanwhile, Ji Yang threatened the Earth Spirit to find Nan Yan's namesake descendant, and once he found her, he would claim her as his master and protect her.
Nan Yan was fighting the spirit that had tricked her when the Earth Spirit rushed to her, claiming to be sent by Ji Yang. He advised Nan Yan to release her bloodline, which would cause the spirits of the Four Seas to scatter and not bother her. After Nan Yan did so, Ji Yang rescued Yin Ya and said he would find a Spirit Pearl for Nan Yan to help her become the Emperor.
Because Nan Yan had the bloodline of the Chongming bird, the spirits considered her kin and promised her a territory within the Forbidden Realm so she could settle down and thrive. Nan Yan was a little embarrassed but then asked the spirits for guidance. They were very friendly and told her about the four domains of the Nine Tribulations Sea, each ruled by a different spirit, and that there were four Spirit Pearls. To reach the Ten Industry Mountain, she would need at least half of the Mountain and Sea spiritual energy.
Nan Yan boldly declared her intention to enter the Mountain and Sea Palace. To her surprise, the spirit turned out to be the Lord of the Eastern Domain's Tribulation Sea, and he gifted her the Spirit Pearl. Nan Yan was overjoyed. With this, she, Li Jin, and the Earth Spirit headed towards the warmer Southern Domain. As she prepared to take the Southern Domain's Spirit Pearl, she was suddenly stopped by Zhu Sui and Fu Lang, who warned her to hand over the pearl.
Mu Guang Han watched the entire scene from outside, worried that Ji Yang would attack everyone. He decided to forcibly close the Mountain and Sea Forbidden Realm to save everyone. Meanwhile, Zhu Sui and Fu Lang both wanted the Spirit Pearl, leading to internal conflict. Yun Biao appeared and mocked them, while Mu Zhan Ting, Meng Ying, and others rushed over.
Meng Ying hated Nan Yan for betraying their sect and wanted to kill her with his own hands. However, Ji Yang blocked him. With Ji Yang's appearance, everyone united against him. However, Yun Nian, without hesitation, stood by Mu Zhan Ting and Nan Yan.
Ultimately, the barrier was broken by Meng Xiao Lou and Mu Guang Han. Since the Evolution Marrow Mirror was not yet in their hands, Ji Yang immediately stepped in to hold the barrier, but was severely injured by the backlash of the Mountain and Sea spiritual energy. Seeing this, Mu Zhan Ting told Nan Yan to take Ji Yang away while they stayed behind to cover their retreat.
Nan Yan took Ji Yang away to heal his wounds. When he woke up, he feigned weakness and leaned against Nan Yan's legs, earning her sympathy. As a result, Nan Yan accidentally discovered the Demon Suppressing Nail in his body and felt great pity for him. The two reconciled.
Ji Yang was asked if he had ever lost his essence and inner core, but he had no memory of it. Mu Zhan Ting, Yin Ya, and Yun Nian escaped and stayed in the mountains, warming themselves by a fire. The scene was incredibly funny. Nan Yan told Ji Yang about her mother, including her suspicions about the murderer. Ji Yang comforted her, assuring her that he would help find the culprit.
Ji Yang gave Nan Yan the Spirit Pearls he had collected and promised her that he would never leave her again.
