Episode 7 recap: Nan Yan Sacrifices Her Pet to Save Ji Yang

In Episode 7, as soon as Nan Yan left, Ji Yang's expression changed, and he threatened Yin Ya, closely watching him work to prevent him from slacking off. Later at dinner, Yin Ya secretly suggested to Nan Yan that they shouldn't trust the mysterious Ji Yang, and proposed they all live together for safety, but Nan Yan declined.

Hearing this, Ji Yang surprisingly agreed with Yin Ya and offered to room with him, startling Yin Ya. Nan Yan simply let them live together, thinking "bad people will grind against each other." In the middle of the night, when Yin Ya tried to sneak away, Ji Yang used magic to trip him up, much to Yin Ya's frustration.

Nan Yan expected an entertaining confrontation, but it stayed quiet outside. She then tried to annoy Yin Ya using insects, hoping he'd give up and leave. But Ji Yang suddenly barged into Nan Yan's room, saying he wanted to sleep in her bed. Nan Yan protested, citing propriety. Ji Yang silently grabbed a pillow and laid it on the floor, saying as a patient, he needed proper rest.

Reluctantly, Nan Yan slept on the floor. Later that night, she asked Ji Yang to lift the spell on her, but he refused. The next morning, Nan Yan found Ji Yang unconscious, his body consumed by strange flames. To save him, Nan Yan sacrificed her beloved pet scorpion in secret, then cried alone under a tree. Guilty, Ji Yang later carved a wooden statue of the scorpion as a consolation.

Depressed, Nan Yan's cooking lacked flavor, but Ji Yang forced Yin Ya to finish the meal. At the scorpion's grave, Ji Yang recalled his own childhood pet's passing, when his teacher had also gifted him a wooden statue for comfort.

Mu Zhan Ting wanted Yin Ya to leave, but Nan Yan decided to keep him, angering Mu Zhan Ting further. Meanwhile, Butterfly Sash dispatched people to investigate Nan Yan and Ji Yang's relationship, hoping to capture Ji Yang, who is actually the Emperor's son. Their group was then ambushed by dark mist and taken to Butterfly Sash's lair. Ji Yang frantically searched for Nan Yan's whereabouts using his spiritual imprint.
