Episode 4 recap: The Disappearing Severed Hand.
Xiao Yi found it very strange that Luo Hai and his family moved to Xia City. He asked Dou Zi Lin to visit Luo Hai's hometown and investigate why they moved there. Xiao Yi did some research and confirmed that the taxi involved in the case was indeed the one he made. However, the taxi was a counterfeit vehicle, and the owner did not appear at that time.
Dou Zi Lin inquired about Luo Hai's background and learned that Luo Hai had been very kind to Luo Yu Tong in the past. It turned out that Luo Hai's wife was having an affair and frequently stayed away from home. However, everything changed when Luo Yu Tong was raped.
Upon learning about the incident, Luo Hai took a kitchen knife and intended to confront the perpetrator. However, due to the difficult circumstances of the young man's family, Luo Hai eventually let it go. Considering his daughter's reputation, Luo Hai did not report the incident to the police either. But this incident left Luo Yu Tong harboring deep resentment. She felt that her father was useless and incapable of standing up for her. As a result, she ran away from home and only returned a year later.
During this time, Luo Xiaoman was born, and everyone continued with their lives. The neighbors believed that Luo Xiaoman was born because Luo Hai's wife had affairs outside and had no other choice but to return. Later, Luo Yu Tong encountered the young man again, but he already had another woman by his side, which devastated her. Since then, Luo Hai decided to move away with Luo Yu Tong.
The neighbors expressed that if it weren't for that incident, Luo Hai would never have laid a hand on Luo Yu Tong, whom he cherished like a precious gem. Upon learning this, Xiao Yi speculated that Luo Yu Tong might be Luo Xiaoman's biological mother, as she returned home a year before Luo Xiaoman's birth. Xiao Yi instructed Dou Zi Lin to investigate and gather more information.
Xiao Yi watched the video of the previous Blue Cap case and realized why Luo Hai's words sounded familiar. He was simply repeating what Blue Cap had said. Xiao Yi reexamined Luo Hai and asked him why he pretended to be a perverted killer. However, Luo Hai did not respond.
Xiao Yi believed that Luo Hai deliberately acted like a pervert. If he was truly the murderer, there was no need for him to add unnecessary details. There must be hidden motives behind this case.
Xiao Yi asked Luo Hai where Feng Ying's hands were. Luo Hai responded by saying that he needed meat filling for his steamed buns, so he had already chopped up those hands and used them as filling. He asked Xiao Yi if he thought human meat buns would taste good.
Dou Zi Lin felt disturbed by the mention of steamed buns. Zhang Liang woke up and told Xiao Yi that he did capture something on tape, confirming that someone was committing murder. However, he had no idea about the father-daughter relationship between Luo Hai and Luo Yu Tong. Xiao Yi realized that if that were the case, their previous speculation was wrong. Zhang Liang didn't capture Luo Hai killing anyone or threatening Luo Yu Tong.
Xiao Yi went to find Luo Yu Tong, who was playing with Luo Xiaoman. Xiao Yi mentioned that there was a back door and asked Luo Yu Tong to take him there to have a look. They discovered a spot where they could see where they had been playing. That night, Xiao Yi and the newly arrived person attempted to replicate Luo Hai's process of disposing of a body. They concluded that it was highly likely to be the processing factory where Zhang Liang worked. However, when they arrived there, they found no record of Zhang Liang being present at the factory on that particular night.
Dou Zi Lin also found it very strange, and wondered if they had made a mistake. On their way back, Xiao Yi was riding a bike when unexpectedly the tire burst over a speed bump. Xiao Yi speculated that Luo Hai had likely encountered an accident before reaching the processing factory that night, causing Feng Ying's hand to fall into the river, which forced him to return.
Xiao Yi went down to investigate and indeed found Feng Ying's hand by the riverbank. Upon examination, they discovered that the human tissue under Feng Ying's nails belonged to Luo Yu Tong.
There's one thing that doesn't make sense. When Luo Hai was dealing with the first corpse, he cleaned it thoroughly. He knew that doing so wouldn't leave any traces.
So why didn't he clean the second one after cutting off the arm? He knew that there could be skin flakes from Luo Yutong's body in the fingernail crevices.
Why didn't he clean it and just threw it away? Isn't this contradictory? If he knew there could be evidence left behind, why wouldn't he handle it? It doesn't add up!
