Episode 16 recap: Red Bean's self-destruction.
The Empress Dowager finally realized what was happening and became very angry. She grabbed Tang Wanwan and interrogated her, but Tang Wanwan insisted that she was not responsible. However, the Empress Dowager refused to believe her. Since Xiao Xuanji was not present, the Empress Dowager decided to arrest Tang Wanwan and ordered her to be severely tortured until she confessed. Xiao Xuanji hurried back and rescued Tang Wanwan.
