Episode 3 recap: Tang Wanwan became engaged to Xiao Qing'an.
Xiao Xuan Yi came to find Tang Wanwan and asked how she knew him. Tang Wanwan said that Xiao Qing'an showed her his portrait. Tang Wanwan's father informed her about the marriage arrangement, so she went to the imperial concubine and expressed her unwillingness to marry Xiao Xuan Yi. Xiao Xuan Yi asked what would happen if he insisted on marrying her, and Tang Wanwan presented a divorce letter with her bloody handprint on it.
The imperial concubine felt that such a matter couldn't be forced, so she agreed. Tang Wanwan stated her desire to marry Xiao Qing'an. The military advisor thought it wouldn't sound good for Tang Wanwan to reject Xiao Xuan Yi and then marry his elder brother. But Tang Wanwan insisted that she only wanted to marry Xiao Qing'an in her lifetime, and Xiao Xuan Yi agreed, wanting to fulfill Tang Wanwan's wishes.
Tang Wanwan's younger sister, Tang Yiner, brought wine for Tang Wanwan to drink. Tang Wanwan already knew about this plan and pretended to drink, but it actually made Tang Yiner faint. Tang Wanwan placed Tang Yiner on the bed, and indeed, a man came over. Xiao Xuan Yi was also present, so Tang Wanwan hurriedly pulled him aside.
