Episode 4 recap: Li Cui framed Chi Yue for stealing someone.

Li Cui took advantage of the moment when Chi Yue invited Ji Hong into the house to wipe her face. He jumped out and accused Chi Yue and Ji Hong of having an affair, demanding Chi Yue to go see the village chief. This angered Chi Yue, who almost hit Li Cui. When Ji Hong heard about the village chief, he immediately agreed and signaled Chi Yue to remain calm. Li Cui was very pleased with this and took both of them to find the village chief. At that time, the village chief had just finished offering incense to the ancestors of the Li family, hoping to bless the villagers of Li's village to abide by the law. Unexpectedly, Li Cui immediately shouted that Chi Yue was stealing people, startling the village chief, who quickly came out to see what was happening.

Li Cui added fuel to the fire and insisted that Chi Yue, who stole someone's husband, should be thrown into a pigsty. Ji Hong saw the situation and explained that Chi Yue was only helping to push the cart out and when she saw her face was dirty, she let herself go in to clean it, and there was no affair. Upon hearing this, Li Cui quickly signaled Ji Hong to slander Chi Yue, but Ji Hong, who was not a womanizer hired from a neighboring village to defame others, was actually the village chief's nephew-in-law. The village chief knew that Ji Hong came from a scholarly family and it was absolutely impossible for him to do such a thing, so he asked Li Cui and Mrs. Li to leave immediately.

Seeing that the situation was now in her favor, Chi Yue quickly covered her face and cried, saying that she had faced many troubles as a widow and that Li Cui and his wife were trying to force her to die. She also mentioned that she owed Li Cui twenty taels of silver and, with the village chief as a witness, postponed the repayment date to one month later. Li Cui and his wife suffered a loss at the hands of Chi Yue, so they went back to complain to their mother. The mother decided to take action and control Chi Yue, ensuring that she would obediently listen.
