Episode 18 recap: Yun Huan impersonated Yan Xun Cang and fled with Qing Que.
Upon returning to the study, Yun Huan didn't wait for the strategist's advice and already understood that even without the Heart Unity Gu, he would still be infatuated with Qing Que. Now he knew that in order to obtain the Heart Unity Gu, one person needed to die so that the other could survive, and it was natural that he would let himself die. Qing Cheng went to find Yan Xun Cang to ask for medicine. Yan Xun Cang said that the medicine was extremely precious and he only had one. If Qing Cheng helped him escape, he would definitely collect rare medicinal materials and make medicine to save Mu Wang.
Qing Cheng showed Yan Xun Cang the note from Qing Que and removed the guards, letting Yan Xun Cang decide whether to stay or go. Yan Xun Cang knew that Qing Cheng resented Yun Huan and Qing Que's affair, so he instigated Qing Cheng to also take what Qing Que loved, implying that he himself was Qing Que's choice. He intentionally provoked Qing Cheng, which made the usually bold and daring Qing Cheng feel somewhat shy. As agreed, Yan Xun Cang put on a mask and went to find Qing Que at midnight, knocking on the door three times as a signal.
Qing Que indeed followed him, regretting along the way that she hadn't left with Yan Xun Cang when she obtained the jade pendant. She also revealed her undercover identity, thinking that the best solution now was to kill Yun Huan. After recognizing that the voice behind the mask didn't belong to Yan Xun Cang, Qing Que reached out and removed the mask, only to be surprised to find that it was Yun Huan standing before her, her eyes wide with astonishment.
Yun Huan asked Qing Que to stay with him for one more day, promising that he would let her and Yan Xun Cang fly away together. They would stay at an inn and if someone blew smoke into their room, Yun Huan would hold his breath for Qing Que's sake to prevent her from being affected by the smoke.
