Episode 4 recap: Yun Huan forced Qing Que to leave.
Qing Que made sure that Yun Huan was injured this time, conveniently covering up his previous injuries. This way, Yun Huan wouldn't have to pretend nothing happened in front of Mu Wang. Yun Huan wanted to use the assassination incident to make Qing Que leave, but Qing Que insisted on staying in Mu Wang's residence. When they were returning with Yun Huan supporting Qing Que, they were seen by Qing Cheng, who became jealous and pushed Qing Que. Yun Huan instinctively caught Qing Que, further infuriating Qing Cheng, and a scene of two women fighting over a man unfolded.
Mu Wang witnessed Yun Huan's interactions with Qing Cheng and Qing Que and suspected that Yun Huan had already noticed his actions of transferring the treasury silver. He decided to test Yun Huan. Before leaving the residence, Mu Wang specifically instructed Qing Que that there were many secret places with mechanisms in the residence and warned her not to enter. Qing Que agreed verbally but secretly sneaked in that night, intending to find the half piece of jade pendant.
Yun Huan and Qing Que encountered each other in a secret chamber. When Mu Wang heard movement in the forbidden chamber, he rushed back, hoping to catch Yun Huan but unexpectedly finding two servants engaging in an affair. Mu Wang noticed an unusual fragrance in the forbidden chamber, realizing it was not something a servant would use. He continued his investigation and discovered that Qing Que had the same fragrance on her. He immediately ordered her to be captured and executed.
Upon learning this, Qing Cheng was ecstatic and personally carried out the punishment. However, a fragrance box fell out of her sleeve. Mu Wang learned that the fragrance belonged to Qing Cheng and had been stolen by the servants, realizing that he had misunderstood Qing Que. He then released her.
