Episode 17 recap: The Chiyang merchants saved Lu Huaishuang and Yue Qishan.
Yue Qishan entered the lord's room, where the lord was taking a bath. She seductively asked Yue Qishan to come closer, but as soon as Yue Qishan took a few steps forward, an iron cage descended from the ceiling, trapping him inside. The lord coldly laughed and told Yue Qishan that soon she would reunite him with his people. Just as the lord finished speaking, Yue Qishan suddenly drew a sword from his qin and cut open the bars of the iron cage.
Yue Qishan and Lu Huaishuang, holding Baihe hostage, arrived at the place where their people were being held captive. Seeing the scene before them, Yue Qishan realized that Baihe's purpose in capturing their people was to create perfume. Yue Qishan hadn't expected Baihe to be so cruel and wished to kill her with a single sword strike. Yue Qishan, with his people, had just emerged from the dungeon when they were surrounded by a group of archers. Yue Qishan intended to use Baihe as a threat to make them retreat, but Baihe, fearless of life and death, ordered them to shoot. In the end, the captain of the guards came up with a compromise: Yue Qishan and Lu Huaishuang would remain as hostages while the others were allowed to leave.
Baihe imprisoned Yue Qishan and Lu Huaishuang in a large prison cell. Upon hearing their gratitude, she decided to make an example of them and had them tied up for public display. She then allowed the onlookers to choose between the two, with the selected person being allowed to live. Zhaomei and Er Ye blended into the crowd, intentionally causing chaos and rescuing Yue Qishan and Lu Huaishuang. During their escape, Yue Qishan and Lu Huaishuang fell off a cliff while evading pursuers.
When Yue Qishan woke up, he found himself lying in a room surrounded by four or five women. He asked them where the woman who was with him had gone. Lu Huaishuang hurriedly entered the room, calling Yue Qishan "Big Brother" and holding his face in her hands, asking if he missed his sister-in-law. Confused by Lu Huaishuang's words, Yue Qishan was quietly informed by her that they were saved by a merchant caravan from Chiyang City. Since Chiyang City revered men, she disguised herself as a man and considered him her brother.
