Episode 19 recap: Passionate Youth.
Since Chen Ting agreed to Uncle Wei and Sister Manzhuo's relationship, the entire Wei Ji restaurant has become lively. However, all the tranquility was shattered by a phone call. It turned out that Master Shi had passed away. Chen Ting rushed all the way to Lin Hao's house, but no matter how hard he knocked, the door remained locked. He then went straight to the barbershop to find Lin Hao, only to encounter the police investigating the situation. This completely bewildered Chen Ting.
It turned out that Uncle Lin had gotten involved in gambling again, and he had even opened a gambling den. Now he had fled and couldn't be found anywhere. Chen Ting went to find Lin Hao to cooperate with the investigation. Upon hearing his father's heroic deeds, Lin Hao slumped onto the sofa. He never expected that time and time again, he couldn't resist the urge to gamble. This time, he had even opened a gambling den. Looking at himself in the mirror, Chen Ting forgot for a moment why he had come.
After recovering his senses, Chen Ting told Lin Hao about Master Shi's passing. The two of them rushed to Wei Ji together. When Uncle Wei heard about Lin Xu's situation, he slammed the table out of anger. But no matter what, the memorial service for Master Shi was scheduled to start in three days. Master's last wish was to have a lion dance, but now Lin Xu was nowhere to be found, and without the lion head, how could they perform the lion dance? Uncle Wei was unsure who he should team up with, which caused a headache for everyone, and the lion head hadn't even been prepared yet.
Upon hearing this, Lin Hao volunteered to make the lion head. They had a frame at home, which he had seen Lin Xu make before, so he could make something similar. Although Uncle Wei didn't completely believe him, he decided to let them give it a try. Chen Ting and Lin Hao arrived at the backyard of their house and carefully took out the lion head bones. Ah Kun, upon hearing that something had happened at Lin Hao's house, rushed over while holding his little pig, fearing that Lin Hao might need help.
Soon, the group bought all the necessary materials. Chen Ting assisted Lin Hao, and as he watched Lin Hao in front of him, he realized how skilled he was. He never expected that Lin Hao could do all of that. Lin Hao had always admired Lin Xu making the lion head before, but every time he asked Lin Xu, he would scold him and refuse to teach him seriously. So he could only secretly observe and imitate, trying to learn on his own. That's why he had some skills now.
Time passed by minute by minute, and Lin Hao didn't feel tired at all. He focused on every stroke to outline the lion head. After much effort, he finally made some progress. Chen Ting felt that no matter how he looked at it, it didn't quite resemble a lion head. A single comment from Chen Ting made Lin Hao lose his concentration, accidentally damaging the lion head. The situation instantly became awkward, and Lin Hao couldn't hold back his grievances anymore. He realized that Lin Xu, at the beginning, was also a good father. It was only after his mother passed away that his father became addicted to gambling. He felt like an orphan, helpless and alone. That's why he would lie about his parents both being deceased.
It wasn't until Elizabeth appeared later on that he felt a glimmer of hope in his life. His stepmother treated him normally, accompanying him and taking care of him, just like his sister. With such a terrible family situation, he was afraid of being exposed for his misery. Chen Ting fell silent after hearing his words. Suddenly, they were startled by a noise outside the door. Unable to do anything else, they had to return to Wei Ji. Whether Lin Xu came or not, the lion dance had to continue.
At the memorial service venue, Uncle Wei had been waiting for Lin Xu, but he was nowhere to be seen. Just as they were about to start, Lin Xu returned with the lion head made by Lin Hao. Uncle Wei was genuinely happy. It was also the first time Chen Ting and Lin Hao witnessed Uncle Wei performing the lion dance, and both of them were moved to tears. After participating in the memorial service, Lin Xu planned to turn himself in and no longer wanted to live a life of hiding and evasion. Lin Hao's life returned to tranquility once again.
