Episode 10 recap: Gu Jin drew a clear line between himself and Hua Shu.
Through Yan Shuang's account, A Yin came to know that Hua Shu distorted the truth and deliberately accused the Eagle Clan of instigating the war. What made her even more furious was that Hua Shu had actually refined the Heaven Veiling Umbrella and used it to harm the Eagle King. Peacock King looked down on Gu Jin with disdain, but Gu Jin explicitly told him that if Hundred Birds Island did not form a hundred-year covenant with the Eagle Clan, then ten years later, if both clans were to engage in conflict again, Da Ze Mountain would fight alongside the Eagle Clan.
Gu Jin and Qing Shan arrived at Hundred Birds Island, and Gu Jin felt that he and Hua Shu had not yet reached the stage of marriage. After meeting Peacock King, he didn't mention the matter of proposing marriage. Instead, he expressed his desire to retrieve the Heaven Veiling Umbrella. Qing Shan, who had come with him, eagerly presented the gifts from Da Ze Mountain. Seeing Da Ze Mountain's lavish gifts, Peacock King thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to form an alliance with them. However, when he sought Hua Shu's opinion, she clearly told her father that she would not marry that useless person, and her husband could only be the Heavenly Emperor of the Immortal Realm. Upon hearing that his daughter wanted to become an empress, Peacock King did not object.
A Yin knew that Gu Jin had gone to propose marriage, but she felt sad and didn't accompany him. After Gu Jin left, she saw the letter he had left for her and realized that Gu Jin still cared about her. Gu Jin knew about A Yin's plan to hatch her younger sister, Ah Yu, on Shui Ning Mountain. As it was dangerous to go to Shui Ning Mountain, he reminded A Yin in the letter to wait for his return before going.
Upon learning that Gu Jin had gone to Hundred Birds Island to propose marriage, Hong Yi came to console A Yin. A Yin, in order to prove herself, didn't take this matter to heart and flew together with Hong Yi in the sky. While flying, A Yin almost accidentally entered the boundary of the Boundary Clan. When Hong Yi was reprimanding her, they suddenly saw people from Hundred Birds Island chasing after Yan Shuang. Hong Yi rushed over to help Yan Shuang drive those people away. Watching the graceful figure of Hong Yi, Yan Shuang thought he had used charm on her again and immediately closed her eyes, amusing Hong Yi.
From Yan Shuang's account, A Yin learned that Hua Shu distorted the truth and deliberately deceived Gu Jin by claiming that the Eagle Clan instigated the war. What made her even more angry was that Hua Shu had actually refined the Heaven Veiling Umbrella and used it to harm the Eagle King. Encouraged by Yan Shuang, A Yin decided to go to Hundred Birds Island to expose Hua Shu's true colors to Gu Jin.
Hua Shu pretended to be in seclusion and avoided meeting Gu Jin. By chance, Gu Jin learned from a servant that Hua Shu had a date with Emperor Lan Feng on the Qixi Festival. At first, he couldn't believe it, but later, when he saw Hua Shu embracing Emperor Lan Feng in the pavilion on Bai Niao Island, he realized that he had misunderstood A Yin.
Therefore, at Peacock King's birthday banquet, Gu Jin directly severed the relationship between Da Ze Mountain and Hundred Birds Island. In order to repay Hua Shu's past kindness, he decided to give her the Heaven Veiling Umbrella as a gift.
After Gu Jin finished speaking, he saw the immortals who had come to celebrate the birthday discussing among themselves. Emperor Lan Feng, worried that Hua Shu would be unhappy, publicly proposed to her, saving some face for her. Gu Jin raised his wine cup and congratulated Emperor Lan Feng and Hua Shu on their reconciliation for a hundred years. Suddenly, A Yin, Yan Shuang, and others rushed over because Hua Shu had set up a barrier using the Heaven Veiling Umbrella, preventing them from entering Hundred Birds Island. Gu Jin pleaded with Peacock King to let them in.
When Yan Shuang came in and saw that Emperor Lan Feng was also present, she asked him to judge the situation for the Eagle Clan. After hearing Yan Shuang's words, everyone understood the reason behind the conflict between Bai Niao Island and the Eagle Clan. The Eagle Clan only wanted to go to Bai Niao Cave to find their missing clan members. Peacock King couldn't act in front of Emperor Lan Feng, so he reluctantly agreed to open Bai Niao Cave for the Eagle Clan to search for their people.
Because Gu Jin was deceived by Hua Shu, he wanted to make amends and asked Peacock King to agree to extend the ceasefire agreement between the two clans from ten years to a hundred years. Peacock King looked down on Gu Jin, thinking that even if he refused, Gu Jin wouldn't be able to do anything about it. However, Gu Jin explicitly told him that if Hundred Birds Island did not form a hundred-year covenant with the Eagle Clan, then ten years later, if both clans were to engage in conflict again, Da Ze Mountain would fight alongside the Eagle Clan. Peacock King, knowing the strength of Da Ze Mountain, had no choice but to reluctantly agree.
To express her gratitude towards Gu Jin, Yan Shuang gave him an eagle-eye jade pendant. She also told A Yin that as long as she called upon the pendant, Yan Shuang would come to her immediately. On the way back to Da Ze Mountain, Gu Jin and A Yin were both burdened with their own worries, feeling sorry for each other. To lighten the mood, Hong Yi told them about a phoenix tree in the You Ming Realm. Both of them showed excited expressions upon hearing the news of Feng Yin's immortal essence.
Because that phoenix tree was located in the Zhong Ling Palace where You Ming Wang resided, when the three of them sought an audience with You Ming Wang, they were told to wait for a month. In order to enter the Zhong Ling Palace as soon as possible, the three of them had no choice but to go to Xiu Yan Tower opposite the Zhong Ling Palace. After entering Xiu Yan Tower, Gu Jin revealed his identity and, without asking for the price, directly wanted to find the owner of the tower to obtain a special token that would allow him to meet You Ming Wang at any time. A man walked down from upstairs and sarcastically remarked that he truly lived up to being a disciple of Da Ze Mountain, acting so domineeringly.
I think Gu Jin borrowed the umbrella from Hua Shu in the first place not because of personal feelings, but because Hua Shu mentioned wanting to save his father, which reminded him of his own experience.
Similarly, Gu Jin knew early on that Hua Shu deliberately refined the Concealing Sky Umbrella, but he also recognized that as a mere woman, Hua Shu had managed to support Bai Niao Island, which was no easy task.
This is also related to his own experience, and it's not just because Hua Shu didn't lie to him with that one statement.
