Episode 2 recap: Gu Jin and A Yin took on the master-servant contract.
The reason why the Peacock Princess asked Gu Jin to retrieve the Phoenix Jade was because she didn't want the birth of the Little Fire Phoenix, as no matter how outstanding they were, they couldn't compare to the Phoenix. When the Fire Phoenix Emperor saw that the Little Fire Phoenix's immortal essence was gone, he hurriedly used his magic power to search within the Three Realms. However, despite searching the Three Realms, he couldn't find any trace of the Little Fire Phoenix's immortal essence. So he asked Gu Jin what was going on.
Gu Jin didn't mention the Peacock Princess, but only told the Fire Phoenix Emperor that he wanted to see the Phoenix Jade, which is why he came to this place. Upon hearing the opportunity to make up for his mistake, Gu Jin readily agreed without hesitation.
After enduring the nine divine whippings, Gu Jin was covered in injuries. He endured the pain and made his request to the Heaven-Questioning Stone in order to find the true essence of the Little Fire Phoenix. He also agreed to the calamity requirement proposed by the Heaven-Questioning Stone. The Phoenix Emperor and Donghua Immortal Lord didn't expect that Gu Jin would agree to the calamity, as they didn't know what calamity Gu Jin would face. To ensure Gu Jin's safety, they restrained him before the calamity occurred.
In a deep mountain forest, ten years passed in the blink of an eye for Gu Jin. During these ten years, only Qingshan came to visit him once a month, bringing fine wine along.
Gu Jin, after a long wait, finally welcomed Qingshan again. He couldn't wait to ask him if the Peacock Princess had replied to him. However, Qingshan shook his head and told him that the Peacock Princess was so proud and had plenty of pursuers, so she wouldn't be interested in Gu Jin. Qingshan advised Gu Jin to give up on his hopes, but Gu Jin insisted that he and the Peacock Princess were destined to be together.
After Qingshan left, Gu Jin was bored and wandering around his residence when he stumbled upon a Chaos Egg. He took the egg back to his place and planned to give the Chaos Egg's yolk to the Little Fire Phoenix to eat. Worried that the Chaos Egg would be tasteless, Gu Jin seasoned it with spices like Sichuan peppercorn and cinnamon. To his surprise, the Chaos Egg hatched into a small spiritual beast. He named it A Yin. To prevent A Yin from running around, Gu Jin put A Yin in a cage while he slept.
A Yin was furious when she heard that Gu Jin planned to feed her yolk to someone else. As a punishment, she drank all the fine wine that Qingshan had brought, transforming into a beautiful girl. A Yin then stole Gu Jin's Qiankun Bag and used the binding ropes inside to tie him up. She tormented Gu Jin with various symbols from the Qiankun Bag and proceeded to boil a pot of water with Sichuan peppercorn and spices to cook Gu Jin.
Donghua Immortal Lord used his divine vision to witness Gu Jin being tormented by A Yin and couldn't help but sigh. Hongchou, the palace master of Qinghua Palace responsible for protecting Gu Jin, wanted to kill A Yin. However, Donghua Immortal Lord believed that this might be the calamity Gu Jin was meant to face. To prevent A Yin from harming Gu Jin, Donghua Immortal Lord came up with a plan.
While A Yin was venting her anger on Gu Jin, several fierce beasts suddenly surrounded them. As A Yin couldn't handle the beasts, she had no choice but to release Gu Jin. Gu Jin noticed that the symbols in the Qiankun Bag were gone and escaped with A Yin. The two of them were chased by the fierce beasts and ended up jumping off a cliff. Taking advantage of this situation, Donghua Immortal Lord made Gu Jin and A Yin form a master-servant contract. After the contract was established, A Yin not only couldn't harm Gu Jin but also had her movements restricted within a one-meter radius of him.
