Episode 8 recap: A Yin helped Gu Jin pursue Hua Shu.
Hong Yi developed feelings for A Yin and wanted to engage in dual cultivation with her, but A Yin rejected him. Hong Yi believed that A Yin rejected him because of Gu Jin. He thought Gu Jin also loved A Yin, so he wanted to compete with him fairly. However, Gu Jin told Hong Yi that the person he loved was the Peacock Princess Hua Shu. A Yin happened to overhear this and became upset, ignoring Gu Jin.
A Yin helped Hong Yi heal his wounds using a spell that required consuming her inner energy. Gu Jin felt sorry for her and couldn't help but scold Hong Yi. Hong Yi responded with a sense of grievance, saying he didn't want A Yin to go through such trouble. He wished they could find Yin Fire and Yang Ice, natural healing substances of the Fox Clan. Unfortunately, they didn't know where to find them.
After returning to the Da Ze Mountain, Donghua Xianjun had ascended to godhood, and his junior brother Xian Shan became the new sect leader of Da Ze Mountain. Gu Jin informed Xian Shan about the matters concerning the Demon Clan, and Xian Shan reported it to the Heavenly Lord Lan Feng. Lan Feng also took the matter seriously and not only informed the Demon Lord but also decided to fill the vacant positions in the celestial realm to prepare for unforeseen events. Initially, Gu Jin wasn't interested in this matter, but upon hearing that the prize for this competition was Yin Fire and Yang Ice, he enthusiastically signed up.
On Wutong Island, Feng Ming, the nephew of the Phoenix Emperor, also registered. He was somewhat dissatisfied and asked his master why Feng Yin, who was now just an empty shell, should be reserved for the position of the next emperor. Upon hearing Feng Ming's words, his master informed him about Gu Jin's successful retrieval of the four strands of immortal yuan belonging to Feng Yin, referring to her as the Little Fire Phoenix.
After his master left, Feng Ming was resentful, and suddenly, Zuo Ying approached him. Seeing Zuo Ying, Feng Ming nervously looked around. Zuo Ying assured him that he didn't need to worry because he had used the invisibility talisman Feng Ming had given him before coming to Wutong Island, and nobody would notice his presence. Relieved by Zuo Ying's words, Feng Ming asked if everything was taken care of. Zuo Ying sighed and replied that their plans had failed once again because the Fire Phoenix Jade was protected by the spiritual veins of Da Ze Mountain. To destroy the Fire Phoenix Jade, they would first need to locate the spiritual veins. Since people from the Demon Realm couldn't enter Da Ze Mountain, Zuo Ying entrusted this task to Feng Ming and gave him a compass.
Xian Shan learned that Gu Jin had lent the Heaven-Obstructing Umbrella to Hua Shu and even arranged for Gu Jin to propose marriage on Bai Niao Island. When A Yin heard this, she felt even more distressed.
On the day of the competition, Hua Shu arrived late, and everyone's eyes lit up. Even the Heavenly Lord Lan Feng silently gazed at her with affection and approached her to strike up a conversation. After they finished talking, Lan Feng noticed a sachet on the ground. It was a gift he had given to Lan Feng as a child. Seeing that Hua Shu still kept the gift touched Lan Feng deeply.
Before the competition began, the Heavenly Lord Lan Feng announced the names of the participants and pointed to the celestial thunderbirds above their heads to declare the rules. The two participants who could collect the purple lightning from the celestial thunderbirds first would be the champions and runners-up of the competition. The champion would have the option to choose one of the two vacant positions, while the remaining vacant position would be for the runner-up.
When A Yin heard that Gu Jin had also registered, she assumed that Gu Jin's purpose in participating in the competition was to win Hua Shu's favor. After the competition started, Ling Feng deliberately played tricks. He used his immortal technique to immobilize Gu Jin and took the lead in chasing the celestial thunderbirds. However, in the end, Feng Ming managed to seize a strand of purple lightning first.
Gu Jin grabbed the leg of a celestial thunderbird and encountered his own thunder tribulation while collecting the purple lightning. Seeing that the situation was unfavorable, A Yin took the initiative to help Gu Jin overcome the tribulation. When the final lightning struck, Gu Jin was worried that A Yin wouldn't be able to hold on and suddenly embraced her, taking the lightning strike on his own back.
After the competition ended, as Gu Jin collected the most purple lightning, Hua Shu allowed him to choose a position. However, Gu Jin only chose the prize, which turned out to be Yin Fire and Yang Ice. It was then that A Yin realized she had misunderstood Gu Jin and decided to help him pursue Hua Shu. She arranged for him to invite Hua Shu to admire the Chiluo Flowers on the Qixi Festival. Before Hua Shu arrived, Gu Jin recited his confession lines to A Yin. Upon hearing Gu Jin's confession, A Yin suddenly felt dizzy.
Xian Shan discovered that A Yin had violated their master-servant agreement and asked if she had murderous intentions towards Gu Jin. When A Yin shook her head, he immediately guessed that A Yin had developed feelings for Gu Jin.
