Episode 2 recap: The Hunan branch has been officially established.

Xiangnan Self-Study University has been officially established. Chen Du Xiu is playing mahjong with his good friends. He wonders if Marlin, a foreigner, understands their country's situation and offers assistance to them. Gao Jun Man, while speaking, says that although it is true, he still maintains a better attitude when talking to others.

Chen Du Xiu feels that they should get started as soon as possible and begin when Guo Tao and Li Da arrive. Just as they were about to open the door, Gao Jun Man asks him to wait for a moment, as she feels something is not right. Usually, Guo Tao and Li Da enter through the back door, but this time, the front door rang. She asks them to quickly leave through the back door.

Just as they reach the back door, they encounter Cheng Zi Qing. Chen Du Xiu mutters to the air, saying he's annoyed all day long, buzzing and sucking blood, referring to Cheng Zi Qing and his group. Cheng Zi Qing tells Chen Du Xiu that he came to buy the New Youth magazine. After looking at Chen Du Xiu's New Youth magazine, he finds its content too radical and orders his subordinates to take it away.

Chen Du Xiu wonders what mistake they made by playing mahjong together. Gao Jun Man brings Chen Du Xiu's bag, and Cheng Zi Qing and his people take Chen Du Xiu away. Xia Ming Han asks Yang Kai Hui if she has submitted her application to join the Party, and Yang Kai Hui assures him that she has already submitted it.

Mao Ze Dong announces to the other comrades that their branch in Hunan has been officially established. They are all very excited and take an oath together. Sun Zhong Shan believes that Jiang Jie Shi is very talented and should not remain hidden in the countryside. He asks Jiang Jie Shi to come back.

Jiang Jie Shi tells him a funny incident that happened while he was observing mourning for his mother. His fellow villagers asked him what good job he was doing. He told them that the Prime Minister appointed him as the Commander-in-Chief of the Central Route Army for the Guangxi Expedition. They then asked Jiang Jie Shi what rank the Commander-in-Chief is. His wife quickly said, just like the character Bao Gong in the opera, and the villagers asked why he didn't even have a sidekick.

Sun Zhong Shan realizes that he had been unfair to Jiang Jie Shi before, and Jiang Jie Shi asks him what he can do when he returns.

Chen Du Xiu was released, and he felt that they had arrested him three times and released him three times. Zhang Guo Tao and Li Da told Chen Du Xiu what they should do next and informed him that the branch in Hunan had been established.

Chen Du Xiu urged Li Da to quickly write a letter to Mao Ze Dong and ask him to expedite the labor movement. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Gao Jun Man told him it might be Comrade Marin and advised him to speak politely. Li Da also told him that this time he was fortunate to have a lawyer arranged by Comrade Marin to intervene on his behalf.

Chen Du Xiu told Marin that if he came to persuade him to submit to the Third International, then he should not blame him for being unable to comply. In the end, Marin agreed, and they sat nearby to discuss and provide suggestions. Chen Du Xiu was very happy as he found Marin and the others to be very magnanimous.

Meanwhile, Mao Ze Dong and his companions were swimming in the river, and He Shu Heng shouted from the shore, urging them to come up quickly as a heavy rain was approaching.

Mao Ze Dong explained that he enjoyed swimming in the river because he understood the temperament of the river's water, and he could harness its strength. While Mao Ze Dong was on a business trip to Anyuan, he encountered a young boy and shared half of his biscuit with him. The boy was amazed that they could eat so well and saved the biscuit Mao Ze Dong gave him, saying it would be useful.

The boy informed Mao Ze Dong that he was now allowed to work in the mine. Mao Ze Dong was surprised that such a young child was already working in the mines. The boy told him that he was already eleven years old, while the "black urchins" started working in the mines at the age of six and eventually died there. As night fell, the boy was afraid of going home too late, so he released Mao Ze Dong and introduced himself as Dong Ya Zi.

As soon as Mao Ze Dong reached the ground and stabilized himself, Mao Zi Yun called out to him from a short distance. Mao Zi Yun brought Mao Ze Dong to have a drink with Niu Kuang Chang, and Captain Li asked Mao Ze Dong to write an article praising Niu Kuang Chang. Mao Ze Dong told them that he came this time for educational purposes, which they found incredible and amusing.

Mao Ze Dong and Dong Ya Zi went together to inspect the situation underground, and Mao Ze Dong felt deeply saddened that even young children were already working in the mines.
