Episode 26 recap: Mao Zedong's articles are not recognized.
Mao Zedong and Qu Qiubai came to the riverside, and Qu Qiubai felt that the days of meeting Mao Zedong were few and brief. They were either parting or on the way to parting. Mao Zedong told Qu Qiubai that he was going back to Hunan to see whether the peasant movement had gone too far or was doing well. He wanted to return to the countryside and find the answers himself.
In his articles, Mao Zedong wrote about what Dr. Sun Yat-sen had wanted to do but couldn't achieve, while the farmers had accomplished it in just a few months. From January 4 to February 5, 1927, in order to respond to internal and external criticisms of the peasant movement, Mao Zedong conducted a 32-day, 700-kilometer field investigation in counties such as Xiangtan, Xiangxiang, Hengshan, and Changsha in Hunan. He then reported to the central leadership and wrote the famous "Report on the Investigation of the Peasant Movement in Hunan."
Shuyi came to visit Yang Kaihui and introduced her husband, Liu Zhigou, to Yang Kaihui. Liu Zhigou told Yang Kaihui that there were already over two hundred members in the peasant movement. Yang Kaihui quickly took notes of what he said.
Yang Kaihui wanted Shuyi to accompany her to the school to gather some information. Shuyi thought it would be inconvenient for Yang Kaihui, who was pregnant, so she offered to go in her place. However, Yang Kaihui insisted on experiencing it firsthand in order to write about the real situation. Suddenly, Mao Zedong returned, and Yang Kaihui was very happy. Mao Anying and Mao Anqing also clung to Mao Zedong.
Mao Zedong squeezed Yang Kaihui's leg and listened to her describing what she had seen. They had a harmonious relationship, and suddenly Yang Kaihui's belly moved. Mao Zedong leaned on her belly to listen to the movements inside, saying that maybe the child wanted him to spend more time at home with Yang Kaihui.
Yang Kaihui told him to go to Wuhan with peace of mind because her mother was there to accompany her. Mao Zedong told her that after he settled in Wuhan, he would let Yang Kaihui and the children come over. Zhou Enlai arranged the plans for the uprising day for his subordinates. Considering the failure of the previous two uprisings, Zhou Enlai believed that it was because the timing was not right, as the Northern Expeditionary Army had already stationed in Longhua.
The workers in Shanghai are shedding blood and making sacrifices every second. Zhou Enlai has once again provided guidance on the battle strategy. The third armed uprising in Shanghai lasted for more than 30 hours of arduous fighting and succeeded in capturing Shanghai. The third armed uprising of Shanghai's workers was a remarkable feat during the period of the Chinese Revolutionary War and the pinnacle of the development of the workers' movement during the Northern Expedition.
Yang Kaihui feels that it is the workers who fought this battle, but where is the Northern Expeditionary Army? Mao Zedong tells her that Jiang Jieshi's troops are waiting for the liberation of Shanghai before they bring their soldiers to take over the city. Yang Kaihui has hired an assistant at home and invites the woman to join them at the table for meals. The woman feels it is inappropriate, but Mao Zedong tells Yang Kaihui that there is nothing wrong with it.
The publication "Guide" did not publish Mao Zedong's articles, and Qu Qiubai asks Zhang Guotao why they weren't published. Zhang Guotao tells him that he couldn't make the decision himself. Qu Qiubai questions how he, as the chief editor, couldn't make such a decision.
However, Zhang Guotao believes that there are some inaccuracies in Mao Zedong's wording in the articles. Qu Qiubai asks if it is a matter of accuracy or disagreement with their ideas. Mao Zedong tells Yang Kaihui that their party has been established for nearly seven years. In these seven years, Yang Kaihui has followed him and moved with their children four times, never finding stability. He feels very sorry for Yang Kaihui.
Mao Zedong believes that only those who are personally involved in the revolutionary struggle with their families can truly understand how difficult it is. Yang Kaihui tells him that she willingly shares his fate. Cai Hesen reads Mao Zedong's articles and feels that no one has ever praised the peasants in such a way, except Mao Zedong.
Mao Zedong tells him that even now, there are still people within their party who look down upon the peasant movement. The road ahead is still long. Liu Shaoqi believes that this article needs time to ferment. Cai Hesen and Qu Qiubai tell him that they have decided not to submit it anymore. They will publish it as a booklet themselves, allowing more people to read and review it repeatedly.
The slogan of the Northern Expeditionary Army has changed from "overthrowing the imperialists" to "peacefully saving China." They all know that Jiang Jieshi is now trying to please the imperialists, and it is impossible for him to overthrow them.
