Episode 38 recap: The covert operation failed.
Pang Hong Mei and his team followed all the way and discovered Bai Ming Han's silver needle, which pointed them in the right direction. Captain Chen led the militia to search the mountains here, believing that since Pang Hong Mei and the others hadn't returned, they must have found some clues and needed to catch up quickly.
Bai Ming Han and the others rested in a cave. Mu Sen and Captain Lin discussed the situation, realizing that it would be impossible to take everyone with them. The next day, Bai Hui and the others continued their journey, with Bai Ming Han and Ji Dan Yang following behind. Bai Ming Han instructed Ji Dan Yang to seize any opportunity to escape and take the camera with him. Only if he managed to take the camera could Bai Hui turn back.
They were nearing the ferry. Bai Ming Han lunged to grab the camera but was shot by Mu Sen and fell off the cliff. Captain Chen instructed Chang Sheng to return the camera while he led his men to catch up. Unexpectedly, Ge Yun suddenly appeared and killed Chang Sheng, taking the camera with him.
Ge Yun received orders to continue lurking here and find an opportunity to kill Chu Huai Qiu. With the camera gone, Captain Lin and Bai Hui got into a dispute. Ji Dan Yang destroyed the film, causing Bai Hui to break down. She asked why they had come to Lumen and fired a shot at Ji Dan Yang. Pang Hong Mei took the bullet for Ji Dan Yang, injuring his arm, and fatally shot Ji Dan Yang.
The locals have also investigated and found that the only person who meets all the criteria is Ge Yun. Ge Yun originally intended to assassinate Chu Huai Qiu but was taken away by Captain Chen and his team. Kou Xue Song received the news and considered the counterattack on the mainland to be a pipe dream.
