Episode 9 recap: Zhang A Shui was killed.
Captain Chen and Pang Hong Mei reported the situation to Zhang Yan. Zhang Yan felt that the person behind this assassination was highly skilled in planning, using a "grass ash snake line." Zhang Yan already had a rough idea of who it could be, specifically Pang Xuesong. When Pang Hong Mei and the others returned, they mentioned Pang Xuesong. Some veteran comrades knew who he was. Back when Zhang Yan was a leader of an undercover team, they went on a mission that was unexpectedly compromised by an undercover agent infiltrated by Pang Xuesong, resulting in heavy casualties.

They would need to make contact with him first and assess the situation. Bai Hui was in the hospital room, changing Zhang A Shui's bandages. Ji Dan Yang received a letter containing a photo of An Wenshan and Ji Dan Yang together. The letter stated that if Ji Dan Yang wanted to see his senior brother, he should bring the documents and meet at the telephone pole tomorrow at 4 p.m., providing the address of the telephone pole.
Ji Dan Yang had been thinking about this matter and didn't hear Pang Hong Mei calling him during the meal. When Ji Dan Yang returned, he coincidentally ran into Captain Chen, who noticed that something was off about him. Captain Chen discussed the matter with Pang Hong Mei but didn't know what was currently going on with Ji Dan Yang.
The next day, Ji Dan Yang went out, and Pang Hong Mei and the others secretly followed him.
Ji Dan Yang arrived at the telephone pole and waited for a long time, but nobody came. Then a child threw a paper airplane at him. Ji Dan Yang opened the paper airplane, and it instructed him to go to the post office.
Ji Dan Yang went to the post office and received a phone call, instructing him to go to the library. Pang Hong Mei also followed Ji Dan Yang and saw him looking at a book before heading to the bridge. The others felt that Ji Dan Yang didn't seem like he was meeting someone, otherwise, he could have done it at the post office.
Pang Hong Mei approached and took Ji Dan Yang back. The transportation team brought in some equipment, and one person injured their foot and came to the company hospital for treatment. Director Ge stated that the foot was fractured and needed proper rest, so they shouldn't think about driving during this time. Secretary Lu came to find Bai Hui and brought him some tea, but Bai Hui declined.
Bai Hui went to the hospital room to give Zhang A Shui an injection, but suddenly the power went out in the hospital. After checking, they discovered that there was an issue with the electrical circuits in another area. When the people from outside entered the hospital room, they found that Zhang A Shui had already died, and Bai Hui was hiding behind a screen. They took Bai Hui away.
Pang Hong Mei and the others questioned Bai Hui about the situation. Bai Hui explained that he was originally going to administer the injection but then the power went out. He heard some noises outside, indicating that someone had entered, so he hid behind the screen.
