Episode 16 recap: Jue Ming saved Shi San.
Wu Xu brought Chu Qi to the cottage, where Chu Qi saw that Shi San was still alive. Chu Qi hugged Shi San tightly, overjoyed. Gu Yu Sheng hurried back and told Chu Qi to wait for him, assuring her that he would return soon. Shi San recounted how he and Jue Ming had met, initially through buying medicine, and how they had come to Fengming Town together.
At that time, Shi San never expected that it would be a one-way path. He had thought everything was fine, and Jia Ru also liked him very much. The mayor confirmed that Jia Ru was also fond of Shi San and wanted her to marry him so that he could take good care of her.
Jue Ming intended to take Shi San away, but he was a step too late. The mayor intercepted them and stated that if Shi San couldn't be sacrificed, someone else would have to be. The mayor asked Shi San if she was willing to marry him, but she refused. As a result, the mayor sacrificed Shi San.
