Episode 8 recap: Chu Qi and others followed the mayor.
The mayor and his group went out in the middle of the night, and Chu Qi and the others secretly followed them. Jia Quan was also here, and Chu Qi asked Gu Yu Sheng to stay here and keep an eye on Jia Quan. He and Wu Xu followed the mayor to see what was going on. Gu Yu Sheng didn't want to and wanted Wu Xu to stay here and watch Jia Quan while he went with Chu Qi. Gu Yu Sheng asked Wu Xu if he wanted to act alone with Chu Qi, but he wouldn't let him have his way because he and Chu Qi were childhood sweethearts. Chu Qi couldn't be bothered with them and left first. Wu Xu said that Chu Qi suddenly came back and told Gu Yu Sheng to go check, so Wu Xu followed Chu Qi.
Chu Qi and Wu Xu followed the mayor all the way up the mountain, and a few people went inside. Chu Qi and the others couldn't enter, so Wu Xu let Chu Qi sit on his shoulders to look inside. The mountain people said that they had already angered the King of Shadows and that three women had to be sacrificed.
Everyone was very anxious. Wang Wu hadn't returned yet. Did they have to use their own children? Some people felt that sacrificing them for the people of the town was justified. Chu Qi was also very anxious. From what they were saying, this wasn't the first time they had done something like this. Could it be that Shi San had really been sacrificed? Gu Yu Sheng followed Jia Quan all the way and ended up seeing a woman in a wedding dress who was knocked unconscious.
Chu Qi and the others came to their rescue and saved Gu Yu Sheng.
